Please don’t use Jameson Williams on special teams. I have never been a fan of taking someone who’s so important on every offensive play risking it by having him on special teams. Players like Jameson I see using on special teams when its needed, game on the line. You can find a KR/CB who excels on Kick Returns who doesn’t cost a lot and get value.

    Adam Smith

They’ve (Dan, Fipps, and Brad I believe) said a few times that he won’t be playing special teams.

    John Will

    They won’t lol

    anthony pylar

@Adam Smith All I heard them say is how excited they are of the possiblities. Fipps wants to keep his job.

    Adam Smith

@anthony pylar they didn’t mention it in this video. IIRC in a video they put out after the draft (I wanna say rookie mini camp) Campbell mentioned that watching him play gunner was one thing that sold the team on trading up for him, but that they wouldn’t have him do that for obvious reasons.

    anthony pylar

@Adam Smith So they were sold he loves football doing everything you ask of him. I get it, but I want him playing WR only. We drafted Jahvid Best who got beat up in college and was one of the best rb’s for a second but didn’t we have him returning kicks here and there? if so dumb

I’m interested in Malcom Rodriguez. I feel like he’ll be a JRM, a special team player that eventually might get some starts and hopefully does well. Everyone says he’s a smart dude and from the film I watched he’s a hard hitter and workhorse.
Also a few of the 2nd year players they mentioned.

Punter: Love Jack Fox obviously.
Kicker: liked Riley Patterson for a long time but it doesn’t seem like he’s consistent with longer field goals. He’ll hit under 45yds all day but I get nervous about the >~45 yd field goals. We’ll see how that battle goes.

Punt Returner: Kalif Raymond did a pretty good job last year, seems like the perfect person to return punts. Does a good job and if injury strikes, it wouldn’t be a huge blow to our new WR room (even though he was clutch at times on offense last year).

Kick Returner: If I remember correctly Igwebuike took a lot the kick returns? I think he is underrated, love the way he runs when playing RB when given the chance. Can’t remember his stats as a returner. Also can’t remember other kick returners, so not sure with this one

I don’t really focus on special teams too much, so I was happy to hear from this coach.
