The questions he fielded in that -interview- press conference were excellent questions, _because_ they were soft toss versions of questions the national media has been hounding him over. The local reporters know what’s up. They’re not buying into the garbage storylines about a contract dispute or whatever nonsense. So they gave Lamar the chance to answer basic questions like, “Why weren’t you at OTAs?” so the world actually has a soundbite from Lamar himself about it. We all knew the answer to that. It wasn’t a hard question. It wasn’t meant to trip him up, or catch him in a lie. Literally the answer they wanted and expected was, “I was grinding/training on my own” and that’s exactly what he said. So now the naysayers have no reason to question his integrity over not showing up for voluntary workouts or whatever other nonsense they wanted to peddle.
That’s how you do your job as a reporter. You respect the person you’re reporting and give them a chance to answer the questions that need to be answered, and that’s exactly what they did.
