6 Pick Question your probably afraid to answer. Why didn’t The Vikings get Detroits 2023 #1 Draft Pick instead of having to move down 20 spots, Vikings got snookered

    7th Orisha

Because the pick has damaged tissue fiber on his knee and hardly stay on the field. Basically another Treadwell or worse. Learn to read medical reports on players instead of spouting off needlessly

    MrStealyoBitch

@7th Orisha bro you did not just compare jameson williams to laquon treadwell 😭😭

    Richard Petzoldt

@MrStealyoBitch Agreed. Most people expect a full recovery for Jameson and probably being ready to play by midseason. However, there certainly is risk involved.

    Richard Petzoldt

Based on usual tradebacks from around pick 12 Kwesi did not get the usual compensation. However, in the usual tradebacks from there QBs are often involved and teams will pay a higher price. Kwesi might have got better if he was a better negotiator or he might have got the very most Detroit was willing to give. We will never know.

    Electric puddle

No they didn’t no top notch QBs in this draft if they were trading up for a top QB which none beside pickett went in the top 30 no way we were getting a possible top 5pick for a WR..

Curt Woods

Mann!!! People need to quit, go back and look at Williams interview, he don’t want to go Detroit, his face said it all! Just play good Defense, safety over top, damnnn!!

    7th Orisha

Yeah, but his ACL though, so we cannotafford to pamper him like we did with Treadwell! Also, we need to be mindful of the salary gap between players. ISM is just as good of not better

    Jimmy

@7th Orisha lol you sure ism better..? Lol Jamo WITH the acl is better RIGHT NOW than ISM.. we are being arrogant the pack and Detroit got 2 talented players can’t deny that idea.. jamo brings dynamics to the lions that they don’t have… I’m not a guy to wish for a players downfall so I’m just not happy the lions are the ones who got him.. we’re good though Skol.. I’m already looking frwd to next yr draft im so bummed out after this one.. draft Noah Sewell next yr and we back in business. Skol

Ryan Damon

6 pick 💜💛

Spindog

Is Paul Allen still vouching for Mike Zimmer and Rick Spielman???,…..

    The Californian Refugee

He loves Zim and considers him a friend. He’s not quick to trash them like many others are

    Spindog

@The Californian Refugee yep he was happy and content with .500 football year after year after year.

Shawn Knapp

So far my opinion is your a weak negotiator Mr Aldofo-Mensa. The fact you couldn’t even say hey Detroit were keeping 46 you can have 192 if you want. That to me is the bare minimum but ideally your getting a haul to move from 12 to 32 and you failed. Think I’m wrong? Look at the trade comps of the last ten years and look at what’s possible in the NFL draft. Thanks.

The Packers trade was a bit better but I feel you could have got just a little more out of that too, say a future R3 in 23.

Plus Detroit has 2 first round picks in 2023 and your telling me you couldn’t even get the Rams pick they got in the Stafford trade on top of 32 and 34? Hell give them a player you want to part with if you need to to get that done. If your going to trade in division get more or don’t do it find out who will give you more if they don’t wanna pay.

    Rob E

Yes, I think you’re completely wrong. Kwesi won both those trades by 21st century charts, but if you’re still using the JJ or Rich Hill charts, you’ve probably still trying to work out how to use your flip phone.
He’s a weak negotiator, but got Zadarius for $3m cap hit this year, Peterson for half the price as last year, sent Michael Pierce packing?
Your assumption that Kwesi wanted a 2023 pick is also flawed. Kwesi showed by using his 2023 4th rounder that he wants the rookies in the building this year to learn from Peterson and Harry before they’re cut next season. I’d suggest Kwesi didn’t want to start a 2023 rookie cold in week 1, but wanted those picks now so they could have a year in the system.
If you actually listened to what he says, you would understand all of these basic things. He always talks about planned transition – that means getting the new guy in before the old guy leaves. Planning for the future with an eye on today – this draft is aiming for 2023 and 2024, not right now – he actually said that in his pre-draft presser – that they’re planning for a specific time horizon.
Sit back in your armchair bro and take a breath – Kwesi and KO are miles ahead of you.

    Shawn Knapp

@Rob Edude I ain’t even reading that past the first sentence. I know what moving that far back in the first round can get and there is not a fucking chart to explain it. It’s simple the team that wants it the most will pay the most. Your smoking crack if you think he won the first trade.

Richard Petzoldt

What about Chris Reed playing Center? Darrisaw, Cleveland, Reed, Ingram, O’Niell.

    Rob E

@Richard Petzoldt PFF rated Cleveland 68.5 and Reed 67 average for last season.
Cleveland definitely improved as the season went on, as you would expect for his first season playing at the position. He also had Hill at LT for the beginning of the season and Darrisaw later.
Reed is 29 so I would strongly argue for the upside of Cleveland as the starter. I love that Kwesi added Reed and Jesse Davis in FA as strong and reliable back ups, that the incumbents and rookies must beat out.

    Richard Petzoldt

@Rob E PFF grades aren’t the alpha and Omega of performance, but as I said I may be underrating Cleveland.

    Rob E

@Richard Petzoldt Sure, but they are one of the few objective measures we have, and offer a stronger argument than he said, she said.

    Richard Petzoldt

@Rob E slightly stronger. There are other sources grading players also and to me my eye test is more valid than PFF ranks. As I said all I got to go on for Reed is his being called above average by a few different sources including PFF. I have no personal experience regarding him. Cleveland to my eye test was slightly below average. I may be underrating him.

    Rob E

@Richard Petzoldt I agree, Reed is a great upgrade for us, but might be bypassed by Ingram. Interesting to see if they try and do anything at Centre, but it sounds like Bradbury has the inside running. Bradbury and Cleveland both had strong finishes to last season.
Cleveland’s trajectory looks promising. t was a bit surprising that we didn’t start him at LT when Darrisaw missed those early games. Kwesi is certainly building up some versatility with Reed, Jesse, Udoh and Cleveland all capable of starting in several positions.
Those first few depth charts and pre-season will be interesting.

Richard Petzoldt

I’m totally with Tatum on Ty Chandler being our best value pick in the draft.

    Rob E

I honestly think Ty wins the RB2 spot early and Mattison will be traded or cut. Ty’s 4.38 speed ability to run routes offers KO so much more flexibility than Mattison’s one dimensional 4.6.

Ty is also well placed to develop into the RB1 and take over from Cook in 2024-25 as Cook ages out and his contract has low guarantees.

    Richard Petzoldt

@Rob E Mattison is not a 4.6 sundial speed guy. I think you definitely underrate him. I’m one of the big Chandler fans, but I think you might overrate him a bit. Cook to me has shown no signs of aging out, but we know how quickly that can happen with RBs. I like having all three for now and I expect Mattison to get a starting job somewhere else as soon as his contract expires. So I expect him to be gone because he’s too good for us to afford to keep him.

    Rob E

@Richard Petzoldt 2024-25 is 3 or 4 seasons away when Cook will be 30-31, so I think that was a reasonable timeline. Cooks contract has 3m dead cap in 2024 and zero in 2025.
I might be optimistic about Chandler but he can do so much more than Mattison.

I think the question is what value does Mattison actually offer? It’s likely that rushing snaps will decrease under KOs system, so fewer for Cook, and some needed for the different ways KO can use Chandler and Kene. There just won’t be any
snaps left for Mattison. I guess as a bell cow back up for injury – but with fewer snaps for Cook that is less likely, and we could always elevate Asim Rose from the PS in an emergency.

I would argue that we will almost certainly let Mattison go in 2023 FA, so why not try and trade him this year while he might still have some value? Right now Mattison is a classic Parcell’s progress blocker.

    Richard Petzoldt

@Rob E Mattison is going to get a starting gig somewhere next year. So it makes sense to plan moving on from him. I like Chandler as an RB, but I’ve certainly been fooled before. I’m not going to write him in as a starting caliber NFL RB just yet. However, as of now I agree we should see if we can get something for Mattison, but what if it’s just a 4th round pick? Is it worth losing a proven backup RB for virtually nothing or just keep him this year and let him walk next year.

    Rob E

@Richard Petzoldt I’d be rapt with a 4th. He was a late 3rd when we drafted him, and teams are drafting quality RBs in the 5th, 6th and 7th nowadays.
I think it is worth losing a proven back up when he has no role and adds no value to your team. It was the same with Conklin. We would never start Conklin ahead of Irv, so what use is $7m sitting on the bench, when we can spend $1m for the 95% of the same player (Mundt) that we’ll hardly ever use?

God teach me to pray your word

question 1: I know what the question was, but what question was Paul Allen answering ?

CHEFDALORIAN

The draft class looks great, Qwesi’s only major error was not getting enough value for the first pick. That was a rookie mistake that hopefully he will learn from…

    Rob E

You’re judging Kwesi, KO and Brzezinski’s deal-making and giving him advice on how he can do better – how patronising of you.
You have nfi what their objectives were, went into those decisions, and clearly no awareness of contemporary draft charts that had the Vikes winning all their trade backs and losing the trade ups – as normal.

    Eloy Anzualda

Also Leo Chenal, Cam Jurgens, Tariq Woolen, and Wydermyer could’ve been the picks instead of Asamoah, Ingram, Evans, and Nailor

    Rob E

@Eloy Anzualda I’ll bet you Ingram will be way better than Jurgens. Just watch the Senior Bowl workouts – Ingram was one of the best guys there.
Evans is years further ahead of Woolen, and was easily better at the Senior Bowl as well, and we don’t know whether Woolen will ever figure it out.
Who knows with Asamoah or Chenal, they are very similar.

Nailor is a WR and Wydermyer is a TE, but some Vikes fans seem to be struggling with the change to 11 personnel which doesn’t really use a TE2 or TE3. A really slow TE like Wydermyer will probably never get on the field, whereas Nailor will probably be our punt returner from day 1 and competing for the start at WR3-5.

I think our guys got the players that they wanted, and not who you wanted. They didn’t pick my favourites either, except Cine, Chandler and Esezi, but after checking out the guys they did pick, I can see why. I think Ingram and Akayleb will be very good for us.

    Spindog

Coulda had Jordan Davis at #12 even though we needed a CB.

    Rob E

@Spindog Except clearly our team did not rate Davis as anywhere near a good enough pick at 12. I think they rated Cine as one of the next best picks on the board, and I think we’ll see why.
I wouldn’t be surprised if he ends up better than Hamilton.

You Not Relevant

The fact that we traded twice within the fckin Division really says something about their fcking “Collaboration”.

    Richard Petzoldt

I have zero problem with trading within the Division. Just make sure you win the trade LOL. We fleeced the Pukers big time and Detroit got a player who might not even play this year. I’m very OK with that.

    The Superior Affection

@Richard Petzoldt They didn’t get near enough value in the trade with Detroit. Period. That value doesn’t have anything to do with who is drafted. There are 2 different values in play, the pick itself and the actual player. They were fleeced on the pick value. Players? We won’t know for a few years.

    Richard Petzoldt

@The Superior Affection We can’t know how much Detroit was willing to pay for the pick. Kwesi may have left value on the table, but we have no way to know. Compared to what the Bears paid to move up for Fields we got less. However, that was for a QB and there’s always a premium to move up for a QB. As for pick value if you go by the Jimmy Johnson chart we got crushed and also lost on the Rich Hill chart, but we won on the Harvard and ESPN. So all you and I can do is guess and it’s not unreasonable to think Kwesi could have got more. It’s also not unreasonable to guess he got all he could have.
However every chart known to man had us fleecing the hated Pukers for that 2-1 2nd round pick deal.

I wanna talk to Sampson

Bradbury the worst center in the nfl lmao

Jimmy Spilotro

Kwesi drafted practice squad players outside of Booth and Cine

    Jorge Sarti

    that’s just not true 💀

    Rob E

When did you become an expert scout?
Akayleb could play before Booth. After watching Ingram’s LSU and Senior Bowl film I think he will likely start at RG in week 1. Ty Chandler’s 4.38 speed and route running will probably take RB2 from Mattison before the season starts and he might not even make the roster. Ty is probably a long term play to replace Cook in 2024-25. I’d expect Nailor to be our punt returner this season, and probably be at least WR5, if not challenge KJ for WR3.
Asamoah is probably on track to take over from Hicks or Kendricks in 2024.

Jimmy Spilotro

I am done being a Viking fan until they cut the player they drafted from LSU-switching to Baltimore or Detroit-lifelong fan-this is too much

    A S

    Ok bye have fun

    bryan morales

You know, no one cares right .!?

    The Superior Affection

Detroit may be positioning themselves to make some noise, though I think they need to move on from Goff.

Unverified, but heard Detroit was willing to give up their 2023 1st for the trade but there was no need to offer it because Kwesi dictated terms and of course they gladly accepted the gift he gave them.

D Lindstrom

God forbid PA says No the trades stunk 🤣

    The Superior Affection

    Master spin doctor.

Caelan Fergel

PA needs to stop with Garret Bradbury, he sucks admit it

None

Worst thing Kwesi did was trade down from 12 to the Lions. Horrible value, and we could have had some really good players. He should have gotten some help from Rick Spielman. Of course, Paul isn’t going to tell you that.

    Rob E

He had Spielman’s scouting team, and numbers guy Brzezinski – who gave Rick all the advice so your comment makes zero sense.
Also your arrogance is stunning – that your judgement is superior to the Vikes full time professional front office. I think in time you will realise that they picked some really good players that you hadn’t even heard about.
You personify the Dunning Kruger effect.

Clinton Reisig

B+ draft grade from me

johnpatrick borden

Could Ty Chandler be the next Chuck Foreman? Run the ball, and catch LONG passes downfield!

    Rob E

He looks awesome. I wouldn’t be surprised if Chandler bumped Mattison out of RB2 and off the roster in pre-season.

JR D

How can Bradbury be a “cinch”??? Unless you plan is to run a passing game that will have Kirk getting the ball out on a 2 count EVERY TIME…..because your center will be getting TRUCKED as he has EVERY SEASON since he got here. Whatever…..PA isn’t going to bite the hand that pays him WELL. Truth vs. a great job/paycheck….we know the winner in that race.

Matt Hjelmstad

Garrett a cinch? Lmao smh
