According to PFF Schultz had the 9th best run blocking grade and the 12th best pass blocking grade. Not sure where the narrative of him not being blocker started. He had a few really bad plays that doesn’t make him a bad blocker. Remember he is also 6′ 5 3/8″ and 244 pounds so if your expecting him to block like a prime Jason Witten that’s not happening. He did put on 6 pounds of muscle this offseason, so he should block better in 2022.

What people saw that expressed the beliefs, that he was a bad blocker, was when there had to be blocking in space, not in-line. When it came to screens, or halfback tosses where it requires him to block a corner in space, he would get beat nearly every time. When he was in line he did a great job. But again when you see we attempt maybe 15 WR screens a year total, and 8 of them get blown up because Schultz can’t block in open space just showed that he was bad at blocking. Which isn’t true when you bring him to the line where he gets help from one side so he doesn’t have to worry about that side

@Cole do you think I would value your analysis more than PFF? Your exaggerating stuff bro…..you know that they keep numbers on all the things you said and your way off! Here’s what the pro’s say about Schultz blocking-Last season, Schultz finished with the eighth-best run block grade and the twelfth-best pass-block grade, numbers that are significantly better than his reputation. I suspect this might be because when a player has a handful of  ugly reps throughout a season in key moments, those become the examples we use to define an overall body of work. Leaving Schultz to deal with the opponent’s best pass rusher—Chandler Jones, for example, gave him fits in the loss to Arizona—is going to be a problem. He also had some significant whiffs in space on screens. In general, though, I think his blocking is like most pass-catching tight ends in 2022: fine. If you overexpose his weaknesses as a blocker, you will pay for it. THAT’S WHAT I’M GOING WITH!
