He didn’t have off field issues, I was at Ole Miss with him and watched for 3 years
@swissmrkc he said he battled that his freshman year. Anybody who kept up with olemiss football knows he came back from a summer and completely different ball play with a whole different mentality

U know we’re rebuilding right now. It takes time. The team is slowly coming together but we have a lot of work to do.

(+) Nice Arm , great on short and immediate throws, gamer w/ can do gut it out lay it all on the line positive attitude as a player, one of the few QB’s that played against top SEC competition in college and improved every year at Ole Miss, mobile and can throw from multiple arm angles with success
(-) off the field issues in the past, simplified RPO offensive scheme @ Ole Miss that did not require making many reads or deep throws , questionable deep ball accuracy , struggles w/ being aware of pressure aka a collapsing pocket, stares down reads to long when asked to throw, his small frame leads to injuries such as his ribs, both ankles in college over the last two years alone.
Grade B- to C
Decent QB prospect that needs time to develop and grow into a NFL starter / player, he needs to hit the weight room and get a thicker build to his frame. Trade was ok sucks we had to give up a 3rd next year however.
I bet we start him halfway into this season
Maybe thre wasnt enough hype to.get a trade sone with the pick 6 but im glad we got someone to come in and either compete or flat out take over as the qb. Maybe not right away but i see a better future with this kid. Not my choice at qb clearly but im ready to see what he can do.

I’m an ole miss alum watched him all 4 yrs no off field issues Matt got thrown into a QB battle due to coaching styles when Matt was truly the best Qb on the field he proved it wish we drafted him in New Orleans good luck Matt will pull for u when we don’t play Carolina !!!!
