I love this pick js congratulations Elam

Good speed , good size,, Go Bills

I know some are a bit upset or concerned with trading up 2 spots for the 4th rounder. But to me, just as a draft pick, there was no guarantee he’d fall or be passed by Dallas or Baltimore, IF this was the guy Beane wanted at 25. Chiefs traded up for McDuffie, so that might have played a hand in things

@topleftfromtime I will give Elam the edge at line of scrimmage though. The big difference is Booth is quick which helps in man. Elam is physical which fits in our scheme better. I am definitely bias against Clemson players personally (thanks Sammy Watkins) but I actually think either pick would have worked. Go Bills!!

    topleftfromtime

@Kate W. you’re wrong tho lol. Clemson plays zone. You won’t even be able to find any film on Booth playing man. Florida almost NEVER plays zone – they play press man.

So if by “the line of scrimmage” you mean that Elam is better in press then you’d be right, because Booth didn’t play it in college.

Elam has been terrible getting off blocks. His tackling has been atrocious & sometimes he takes terrible angles – which certainly doesn’t help.

Booth on the other hand is DOMINANT against the run. He could literally make the switch to safety. Excellent block shed, solid tackler.

Again it had to be injury concerns. If Booth is 100% healthy w/o the injury history that he has, he’s a top 10 pick.

The good news for Elam/The Bills is that Elam is still a baby. He’s 20 years old. These kids aren’t finished products. McDermott & Frazier have done an EXCELLENT job coaching up that position specifically & the secondary as a whole.

As long as Elam’s committed to being great, I’m confident this coaching staff can get him there.

I’m more concerned about the player he wasn’t on any top 5 corner boards and booth was still there and another guy

    Steve Rose

@Robert K. VanWie Injury concerns, which is clear as no team picked him in R1.

    J Coz

@Robert K. VanWie Elam better & has the speed were missing, 4.3 40…

Love the pick i had been thinking this was gonna be the pick all day. I’m pumped his cover skills are great.

Baphomet

Love the pick! This man will be a day one starter, he played in the SEC. Covered some of the best in the draft, and shut most down. Go Bills!!

Philipp Brad

Tbh i was a little worried after mcd went to kc. Then i saw this guy. Wayyyy happier we got elam over mcduffie. Elam looks like someone who can dominate in the nfl. Kaiir elams father and uncle both played cb in thw nfl as well. Big family of cbs

Justin Bell

With a roster like we have I don’t mind trading the lower round picks to get a guy who will help day 1

BuffaloBuilder

We traded a 4th round pick. Not a big deal. We have a lot of picks and our roster is already pretty full. We needed a starter & if we didn’t take Elam, there would of been a HUGE drop off by our next pick. In Beane we trust. Hasn’t steered us wrong yet.

    Heidi Maxham

Gabe was a 4th. Another guy on our main roster is a 4th too. Without Gabe, they’d have gotten cooked by kc last playoffs. 4th rounders matter bruh.

    yardietov

The draft is deep and many teams have more picks than the Bills so it was a wasted trade bottom line. The Bills aren’t stocked according to Beane and his multitude of 1 year contracts

    BuffaloBuilder

@yardietov it was a 4th rounder on a team that is already stacked. We needed a starter, not a depth player which is what a 4th rounder would be. Besides, Beane hasn’t steered us wrong yet. Trust me, you won’t miss the 4th round pick lol

    yardietov

@BuffaloBuilder the future is so bright the realities not so much. I hope that you are right no hard feelings

Bills News Consolidated

Beane only selects players with coachable deficiencies. As long as the athlete and will to learn/improve is there; you check the Buffalo Bills box.

Bottom line for me is that if Brandon Beane says we had to trade up to get Kaiir, then we had to trade up. We have, in my opinion, the best GM in the league and I will trust his judgement unconditionally because he’s yet to show that we shouldn’t

    Ethan B

Well said, he’s proved himself time and time again I think it’s time for the fans to just let him do what he thinks is right. If Beane thinks Kaiir is worth it, then Kaiir is worth it. I’m excited to see this guy play

    yardietov

Beane isn’t a god neither is Josh people would be best to realize that these mere humans are just as error prone as we are. That trade was an error in my book maybe it was Beane showing off for first round kicks

    Cloud Strife

@yardietov no offense but your opinion means absolutely nothing but I’ll trust the executive of the year over a never has been

Paul Rath

This is like the 2017 draft for Trey White – a lot of top-rated CBs were already chosen. Bills chose White at 27th. It worked out very well for the Bills

Pistol Pete

People complaining about trading a 4th seem to forget that we’ve had players poached off our practice squad by others (Fromm & Wildgoose). Even if we draft a player there’s no guarantee we can protect them, so why not cash it in for the peace of mind?

    yardietov

Every team has the same problem so what’s wrong with the Bills doing a little poaching in return. To do that you have to have options to increase your odds of a home run a 1 in 3 hit rate is best. Like for instance 3 ANTI HILL DBs in for a chance that one can shut him down

Darlene Ma'at-Anunnaki

The uniform Kaiir Elam is wearing – Forecast him to play with the Buffalo Bills. #BillsMafia #LookingGood

Richard Krieger jr

This is going to pan out to be the best CB pick in the first round. He is a straight stud he has height he has big hands he has speed great man to man.The list goes on talking about Elam.So glad we went with him and not a dam RB.😂😂😂😂❤️💙❤️💙❤️💙

Molly Murphy

I am so thankful we have this FO that is ready to do what it takes to procure the talent we need. In Beane we trust, Go Bills!

WitnessingDarwinism

All hail BBB! Dude has built an organization that people are using as a model. Enjoy this time my fellow Bills fans. We dealt with a ton of garbage for literally decades and the script has flipped.

Richard Greenwood

“Those wonderful receivers in the AFC” says Maddy. Wish she would identify who the “most wonderful” receivers are. Just sayin’

Steven Bryant
