@Andre’ Smiley you must not know how coaching works. When’s the last time you’ve ever seen a Detroit offensive or defensive coordinator interviewed for a Head Coaching position in the NFL? Aaron Glenn is giving his all to these players and team. He’s paying his dues and is getting the recognition be deserves. If he does leave, it’ll only to be to take on a HC position. Who can blame him? That’s how coaching works, u wanna advance yourself to the highest level.
Um. Teryl Austin was a perennial head coaching candidate. Because this thing called the Rooney Rule insultingly dangles head coaching interviews to minorities.
You won’t remember this, but people truly loved Austin. Mindlessly.

He was the first DC, of any color, to give up 500 yards in back to back weeks with the Bengals. He was fired immediately. He literally said he didn’t waste time game planning for TE mismatches.

ALLEN PARK, Mich. – Detroit Lions defensive coordinator Teryl Austin went on four interviews last season for vacant NFL coaching jobs. Two of them he believed were legitimate.
“Like a legitimate job interview,” Austin said Thursday. “Like I had a legitimate shot at the job.”
Austin, who has interviewed for several NFL head-coaching jobs over the past two offseasons, declined to name which of the interviews he believed were legitimate and which were not. The 51-year-old transformed Detroit’s defense during the past two seasons and became one of the hotter head-coaching candidates out there.
