Patrick Mahomes, Josh Allen dazzle in KC's wild Divisional win | Pro Football Talk | NBC Sports

denigster

This sunday was worth all the suffering with bad games in the regular season – freaking amazing

    Polaris I

That Buffalo defense, Titans’ offense, and Packers’ special teams, along with all of their coordinators, are all deserving of each other!
Talk about ideal marriage partners. . .

    Jonathan Velder

    Yeah 100%
When they started losing I wasn’t even that mad I kept thinking about the last 3 years

Ravens76 B'more

Best playoff game i have witnessed in my short 46 years of life.
We may never see a game like this again.

    Bill Bond

i can name 5 games that were on same level but Mahomes was in 4 of them🤣🤣🤣🤣🙄😜

    Ravens76 B'more

@Bill Bond ok name the games then.
With 13 seconds in that situation i’ll wait.

    Adrian

I prefer my football without 2 sieves masquerading as defenses.
But I get it, you casual fans like track meets disguised as football games.

Rm16

I’m barely getting into football (bears fan) but that was one of the most exciting games I’ve ever seen in sports and im mostly a baseball fan. It was incredible!

    R T

They bears passed on drafting Mahomes

    MRkriegs

@R T dont do him dirty like that 🤣🤣🤣

    R T

    @MRkriegs I’m so bad.

    Rm16

@R T we didn’t have the best front office lol

    MariocoTM

@R T And the Bills traded with the Chiefs so they could draft him,.. they could of had him too! What’s your point?

Brian Mccallum

13 seconds to go and we need 50 yards. Only a Chiefs fan understands the feeling of calm and hope. Fear the Grim reaper.

    Nashville Choctaw

@Matt Paine Wrong, Mahomes embarrassed them by manipulating their coverages forcing them to have to play honest football. When they had to be honest, the better QB & team couldn’t be stopped.

    RuffBuff716

I honestly fear tyreek more than anyone else in the league. I hate playing the chiefs because of him he changes the entire game

    Matt Paine

    @Nashville Choctaw sure bud

    Jim Ribar

@Nashville Choctaw that’s a joke. Do you watch football? That was a complete breakdown of an exhausted defense. I’m no bills fan. Just speaking here with unbiased opinion. Watch the film.

    David M

Easy. Grim reaper. Bills D was shite. Would you feel confident doing that again? No you wouldn’t.

Caleb DesJardins

This was the best game I’ve ever seen. Both qbs were perfect and both deserved to win. Both had clutch last minute game ending drives. Whoever had the ball last was going to win this. I’m a bills fan, crazy respect for mahomes and I hope he wins another. I hope the chiefs fans have that same respect for what Allen did too.

    Blaine Kennedy

    We do, my friend

    Anthony Jerome Jr.

@Caleb DesJardins I respectfully dis agree, nothing against josh he’s good, but he hasn’t played great defenses on a constant bases or played in big games like Mahomes has. Mahomes has literally changed football as we knew it. All defenses had to make major adjustments to even have a chance to win. Even Sunday night he played a 27th ranked passing defense, that being said he should of put up good numbers, a lot of decent quarterbacks would put up good numbers on a 27th ranked passing offense and a rebuilding pats team. Mahomes continues to win against every teams very best. and he has the credentials to back it up. josh has none ” Yet “. so you can’t put him in the same sentence with Mahomes. If the chiefs had a number 2 or 3 defense they would of most likely blown the bills out.

    G19-WIC

Good game, but no defense at all especially the chiefs secondary.

    Anthony Jerome Jr.

@G19-WIC I agree, we have the 27th ranked passing defense and they have the number one. So to me there is no comparison, Patrick out played josh in a big way.

Matt Rowland

Aaron Rodgers is more concerned about his stats. He’s obsessed with not throwing INTs and his passer rating. But on the biggest stage, he consistently comes up well short.

    Mike Russell

    He should retire

    swissmrkc

That’s all he has, rating stat, won’t have yards, wins, TDs, Superbowls so he went with “QB rating” for his legacy. He doesn’t spread it around, it’s who he trusts and that’s all he throws to.

    Dave Beale

I don’t even get it why almost every sports announcer says “future Hall of Fame QB” before they say his name, even though he probably is and will be not long after his retirement(which hopefully will be SOON)…and no “offense”(or pun) intended… but i am sure he would trade all that for just one more Super Bowl win or even an appearance??

    Robester D

    @swissmrkc he has a superboel

    swissmrkc

@Robester D that’s just that he has one in his career is just about over…. One Super bowl win…. He’s not going to be remembered for his Super bowls is what I was getting at. Eli Manning has double the Super bowl wins then Rodgers.

JoAnne Rubin

What a game!!! While I am sad my Bills lost, they played an amazing game and Josh Allen is the ONLY other QB that can stand with Mahomes!!! Love You Josh and Bills !!! Thanks for a great season!!!

    Governor McLovin

@Ramone DeCurta Watson hasn’t even played this season, and Wilson has literally done nothing this year while Mahomes has been a contender since starting.

    JoAnne Rubin

@Daniel Schulien right LAST SEASON!!!! Brady had his time , make room for these two QBs now!!!!

    JoAnne Rubin

@Ramone DeCurta really not seeing that this season and I do believe Mahomes and Allen are two of the best in the AFC!!

    fwdfdfsa111133

You guys had an amazing season! The Buffalo bills are a really good football team 💯

    skoshunt

Mahomes beat the best defence in the NFL.

Basman

We are now taking Patrick Mahomes for granted in my money we should appreciate greatnesses in front of our eyes 👀

    Alan T

This whole show was fishing over both of these guys. What is wrong with you? Deepest apologies that a guy exists with just as much or more talent.

Aaron Koch

I find it interesting how many are ignoring the impact KC losing Matthew was and the benefit it was to the Bills.

    Nashville Choctaw

@Likwit 716 Made a big difference with him starting last year didn’t it?

    Nashville Choctaw

Bottom line Mahomes embarrassed that number 1 defense and forced them just like last year to have to come down to earth and play honest football. Then he & his boys couldn’t be stopped. 💯✌🏼

    josh g.o.a.t allen

@Nashville Choctaw t matthew started week 5 did that make a difference?

    josh g.o.a.t allen

@Nashville Choctaw josh allen also torched the chiefs defense chiefs won by a coin toss ur acting like it as a blowout if bills got ball in ot they would have on 100%

    feldspar hoobyshoob

@Likwit 716 Totally different. Buffalo had weeks to make adjustments and add personnel after losing White. Chiefs had about 13 seconds to replace Mathieu. But hey, 13 seconds is all you need against Buffalo.

Frank Tyred

So many of these “experts” picked the Bills over the Chiefs and they can’t let that go. The squib kick idea is ridiculous too. If I am the head coach of the Bills I would expect my #1 defense to be able to stop Mahomes in 13 seconds, why run the risk of a kick out of bounds or a return for a touchdown, idiotic argument to lessen the great play of the Chiefs in that final 13 seconds.

    Alex Casey

The squib kick wouldn’t of gone out of bounds he would’ve kicked/pooched it high into the air and dropped it in the middle of the field with no chance of it going out of bounds and the chiefs would’ve had to touch it therefor shaving at least 2-3 seconds off of the clock, which is one play. Our D was tired because they were on the field too much. Everyone’s human and gets tired they had some big time stops they just couldn’t hold up against the Chiefs and they just played a little bit better.

    Frank Tyred

@Alex Casey If he pooch kicks it all the Chiefs have to do is call for a fair catch, no time off the clock. Or worse, the Chiefs run it back for a walk off touchdown. The coaches on the Bills side believed 13 seconds was safe, and any other time it would have been. Hindsight

    Alex Casey

@Frank Tyred Oh I thought you couldn’t do that if it hit the ground first the rule that I heard was that if it hits the ground and then you pick it up you have to make an athletic move and then you can fall on it.

    Frank Tyred

@Alex Casey A kick along the ground cannot be fair caught, but a ball “kicked/pooched it high into the air and dropped it in the middle of the field” certainly can. A sguib kick can run a few seconds off the clock, but again, I firmly believe 13 seconds and a ball placed on the 25 yard line almost always wins the game. Mahomes was just too much in this game.

    Nobody None of your business

If, If, If’s. The problem with so-called experts picking 1 team over another has a lot to do with the tug of their Hearts. Logic is drowned out by loud wishful thinking.

Jonah Schniepp

Patrick mahomes has started 4 seasons for KC.

KC has been in the AFC title game each of those 4 seasons. Think about that.

    Tyler Ramzan Dossa

I remember Andy Reid as a coach always choked in the playoffs with the Eagles and now look at him too he helped turn around the Chiefs organization around too

    Nashville Choctaw

And if he starts his entire rookie year, he’s got the Chiefs deep in the playoffs. I think he makes more mistakes, so I think best case scenario we get a loss in the AFC title game, because the offense was designed to cover Alex Smith’s deep passing weaknesses, so he would’ve had to adjust right out of the gates. It wasn’t til 2018 when Reid installed the Air raid similar to the Texas Tech formula was run. Mahomes could more so be himself and get the ball deep as the gunslinger he is. It wouldn’t have been much different though bc you look at the only game he played as a rookie, without the starters, he clearly threw it however and wherever he wanted outside of the system’s formula and he even mentioned after the SB win in 2020 he couldn’t read defenses at a high level until the 3rd year… that’s scary!

    Nashville Choctaw

@Tyler Ramzan Dossa Yessir! We wouldn’t be talking about Coach Reid like this though with any other QB. Chiefs kingdom knew deep down Alex wasn’t the guy.
I might be the only Chiefs fan I know here in Music City, besides my fiancée but I’ve been telling these Titan fans since that AFC title game, Tannehill is not the guy for y’all. I was hoping for the AFC game to be here bc I was ready to get my tix. I go to every game they play the Chiefs, so I remember after the game was over & we’re all leaving the Nissan stadium, the fans all mocking us doing our chant & tomahawk during the game shouting “Titan up” talking mad about our defense and Mahomes… Chiefs kingdom knows it best right now.. We saw Alex Smith vs Andrew Luck & not be able to beat Indy, couldn’t beat Pittsburgh & Tennessee.. embarrassed himself in both games like most QBs we’ve had in our playoff history and he beat the Texans, but pretty sure it was without Watson & Hill had an amazing moment in that game, Watt might’ve been hurt I don’t remember, but look who Mahomes has beaten in these playoffs y’all!!!! We know what we’re talking about when we say Missouri Mike Jordan!!

lorna hull

Fantastic game…but don’t forget. 3 yrs ago the Chiefs lost in overtime. Patrick has lived that. Bills voted against changing the rules in overtime 3 years ago.

    Anais Hilator

The Bills had a lead with 13 seconds left

I don’t want to hear any crying about OT

Axe2Grind

This will be forever known as Blue Monday. They had it. Bills are winning the SB if they win and that is a fact. Classy move by Pat Mahomes to practically ignore his teammates to give Allen his due. Top marks.

    Randell Goering

I love that we are having a “whos better” argument. JA VS PH… theyre 25 & 26. We will be going to be going back n forth for the next DECADE PLUS!!! I LOVE IT!!!

    CJ Mack

with 13 seconds left on the clock Buffalo allowed the Kansas City Chiefs to score touchdown and a field goal I never seen that in my life I’m 48 years old and I’ve been waiting all my life for Kansas City to win the super bowl they won the super bowl they lost the next one and this one is going to win go Chiefs

    David M

@CJ Mack they scored a FG only. Not a TD. They tied the game with 13 secs left and then won in OT

    Axe2Grind

@Sycotic Forever So they were good enough to get through the playoffs yet they just turned into the worst unit overnight during the SB? Mkay. That’s about as casual a comment as it gets.

    DA

@David M of course it’s a team sport but Allen didn’t get it done ✔️ and pats numbers are crazy when you compare them both

KC Crypt Keeper

Percentage of career playoff wins
WITHOUT having a top 10 defense:
Mahomes (100.0%)
Peyton (78.6%)
Brees (77.8%)
Rodgers (54.5%)
Brady (11.8%)

    Nick Banker

    By yards LMAOOOOOOOO

    dilanabey abey

    Great stat!

KC Sniper

The curve ball throw that Mahomes made to pringle was one of the most amazing throws ive ever seen a qb do on purpose. He had to throw it that way to get it around the lInebacker arm and body

    Auburn Mann

IKR! Everything in the first half gets overshadowed, sadly

    Randell Goering

Mahomes throws a football like its a baseball sometimes and my eyes just want to bug out of my head like a cartoon character. I dont know how he does it!

    Dimension Exo

    That’s next level ⚡︎

    Brendan Lake

It was to Tyreek but you’re right it was amazing

Curtis Harris

How would having The Honey Baddger on those late drives in the Chiefs secondary changed the outcome? I’m taking Mahomes all day any day Josh is my plan B.

    Curtis Harris

@Alan T you salty bc your team lost! Poor tink tink, you want a hug?

J Gunzler

I appreciated Mahomes running to find Allen and just dropping his helmet before he even reached him as like a “hats off” sign of respect. I’m still very heartbroken 💔 13 FKING seconds 😫

    John Montgomery

15 minutes of OT .. Why have it sudden death

    PhoenixFlame

@John Montgomery Not necessary. Just replace the coin toss with the ‘Field Goal Gamble’. It removes the random garbage element and replaces it with a football element.

David Berry

This was the greatest football game ever played. In terms of skill, effort, execution and drama, nothing comes close. The 0:10 two-play, 40-yard drive to make a 49-yard field goal was the capper to the most exciting, excruciating, anxious 2-minute game-ending series of events I’ve witnessed in my 45 years of NFL fandom.

John Lewis

14:00 Mahomes has always had better stats. Even this year he had better stats then Allen even on a “down year”

John Chedsey

I hadn’t watched a single NFL game in over a year but decided I’d watch this one. Just had a feeling it’d be a real banger. Better than expected. Josh Allen has far exceeded all expectations coming out of Wyoming. The Bills can feel good about grabbing him in that draft for his “potential” because not only has he reached, but he’s going far beyond. They will win a superbowl with Allen, just a matter of time.

Oh, and of course Mahomes was ridiculously great. This could be the Brady/Manning rivalry of our era, except these two QBs are so much more physically gifted. (and somewhere, Joe Burrow is lurking)
