Matt Rhule speaks to media about Joe Brady move – FANTASY FOOTBALL FAN SITE
Spencer Bacon

This is a good move, I’m not ready to get rid of Rhule, not yet (we’ll see how he does next year) but we had QB issues, and we get Cam back, and still had issues in OC, so we’ll see, who the new guy is, next year and if we still have issues, it’s time for Rhule to go.

    Richard Wiseman

@T T I’m not saying it is. But am I disagreeing with the move. I’m just simply saying he isn’t the answer to long term sustainability

    T T

@Richard Wiseman I think they should have just let him play out his final contract year to begin with, and then determine his future based on his performance. I don’t really think it is fair to judge his performance on the past two seasons considering his circumstances. Give him one full season and then draft the next superstar. This team is going nowhere for at least another 1-2 years. Rhule appears to be way in over his head.

    Richard Wiseman

@T T I’m basing my opinion off of his entire body of work.

    Richard Wiseman

@Tahmel Taylor in college maybe… but in the NFL, Joe Brady was predictable af. It’s bad when even the commentators know what’s about to happen. Rhule may not be the best coach but to say Joe Brady was a great OC is just wrong

Kaox

so glad this has finally happened

    T T

@CRB1 Just like the head coach.

    CRB1

@T T yea but at least he had some experience. Joe had 0, & joe was not! The OC at LSU. Ppl keep telling that lie

ENOUGH! This fan base is so fast to just be so negative all the time and I really feel like there are many different things that have caused up and down seasons this past campaign and a half so far:
1.) Covid changing SO much
2.) First year NFL Coach and First year NFL Offensive Coordinator
3.) Change at Defensive Coordinator
4.) One of the Youngest rosters in the NFL: coaches can’t really rely on veteran leaders since we have so few.
5.) Christian being in and out: nothing consistent to game plan with week in-week out.
6.) Offensive line woes: this season having 8 or 9 different lineups in just what like 10 games? Most of which aren’t even familiar with the team since most players from 2011-2018 are now gone/not with the team apart from CMC, Donte, Shaq, (Cam again).
7.) Offensive Disconnect: Robby and Sam not having a good pass connection, DJ uncharacteristically not getting open well against looks.
8.) Quarterback changes: Matt came in still with Cam, evaluated, sent the franchise QB away, got Teddy first year with the team, he’s gone, gets Sam (still young and not super experienced/successful) Sam then plays poorly and gets hurt, brings Cam back but mid season during a thick playoff race in a system he no longer recognizes and even tho Cam has 6 TDs to 2 turnovers there’s a curve there to expect delays…
9.) The division: NFC South as competitive as it’s ever been any given week and the NFL as a whole having less of a gap in player skill and it comes down to who has the better plan rather than better players which is hard for a couple first year NFL coaches to figure out on the fly.
10.) The backlash: Releasing Cam, releasing Greg, Luke gone, TD released, Khalil retiring, fanbase upset and on edge and hungry for winning but not realizing THIS IS AN ENTIRELY DIFFERENT TEAM FROM EVEN 2018!!

Cut Matt Rhule a break, he was 5-11 in one season and he’s already matched that rn at 5-7 with still a very real shot at the playoffs (if we win out we even win the division with another TB loss)

Just wait guys… 🙄

@Azaan PD Yessir, we have room to be 9-8 and still get in. The Vikings, Saints, 49ers, Eagles, Washington and Falcons are all 6 or 7 loss teams. I do think we can beat 4 of our last 5 having Falcons, Bills, Saints and Bucs twice. I feel both Bills and Tampa could beat us clearly but I doubt we drop both Tampa games and something tells me if we clear Atlanta we will clear the Bills in an absolute dog fight due to the team momentum and hope back up. I’m expecting us to finish 4-1 down the stretch with a W over everyone except we drop one of the Tampa games and we hit 9-8. I think 9-8 7 seed is truly our potential and if we get the Cardinals at the 1 spot I’m not actually too worried about them call me crazy. For now we just HAVE TO HEAT ATLANTA

    Azaan PD

    @Lamont Morgan
    YESSIR BEAT THE FALCONS!

    Blackandbluetv

Thank you I hat these fans that blame the coach’s

    Brian

    PIN THIS! All facts

    Azaan PD

    @Lamont Morgan
Don’t forget to mention that we were able to punch far above our weight last year and this year. 8 of our 11 losses last year were by 1 score (many of which against playoff teams). And we could’ve very well had a winning record last year if not for an inexperienced roster. And most of our losses this year have also been by 1 score for the same reason.

Too many times this year we didn’t or couldn’t run the football in critical situations. From the outside looking in, I understand the decision and wish Joe all the best. Joe had some great designs in the passing game, which at times flashed, but running the football is fundamental to being consistently successful. I know a lot of people are not happy with Matt Rhule, but I think he’s making the right decision here. What he and Phil Snow have done with the defense has been outstanding. I believe they can turn it around, though that may not be this year, unfortunately.

    David Fryar

He (Matt Rhule) clearly only fired him because he is on the hot seat. He had to make a change now.

    Jacob Rea

@David Fryar can’t argue with you there, just look at his body language.

Humble Minds Music

Teddy B told us about Joe. Rhule defended him. Now he’s firing him. Looking real desperate.

    Dominic Faison

Humble Minds Music This has nothing to do with Cam 🤦🏾‍♂️ Simple logic y’all. Use it

    Dominic Faison

Humble Minds Music Somewhere in your random warped logic I thought you might be able to figure that out but I blame me because you weren’t using much logic to begin with

    Humble Minds Music

    @Dominic Faison lol trolls.

    Dominic Faison

Humble Minds Music if you say so lol

His play calling was predictable. Regardless if you don’t trust the QB at least you can show that your schemes work. They claim to study film all the time and it would of shown who was constantly open & who is not. It was good experience for Joe.

Miyamato Musashi

Did it take them this long to figure out Brady’s first name was Joe and not Tom?

Miyamato Musashi

Who needed and enjoyed the bye week more, the team or us the fans?It was nice not to watch this team going through an ineptly called game again resulting in a loss.Hopefully we can see some positive results from this move.Despite the weak Oline performance other teams work around what they have like Miami and others and still get some results.Let’s hope for the best. What did yall do with the Sunday off?Watch other games?Actually spend non screen time with others. If so were they actually happy about this?Curious if there are any responses left.

BeenThere DoneThat

Joe was smart enough to capitalize of the success of the run that LSU had. He was hot, had a national championship and Heisman QB as soon as the NFL came calling he bolts. Smart move on his part look at LSU coaching staff now. He got paid and experience as OC in the NFL, sucks that it was at the expense of the panthers.

wacoblaze

But was it Rhule or Tepper making this decision. Thats one thing we won’t ever know.

Chason Harrell

Rhule: “we’re going in a different direction”
Brady: ” OH THANK GOD… cause I ran out of ideas weeks ago”

    95NiJo

This made me lol. I can picture that so well in my head x)

    K.IN.G

    This sums it up!!

Austinhowdstudio

Great move !!!

DashCam Show

Matt, it wasn’t all Joe’s fault. You started Cam who could not have possibly learned the playbook in a week and a half against Washington. So, what happened at the Arizona game? Joe was calling plays then right? The difference is you started PJ who has been there since the preseason as has had time to learn the playbook. Joe didn’t have to limit his calls to what Cam knew. Which I am sure he had to when Cam was there. You should have started PJ against Washington and brought Cam in like you did in the Arizona game. Don’t blame Joe for the last 2 loses. Now that he is gone he will probably go back to LSU. I just think you should have given him more of chance. By the way, Cam’s passer rating was one of the poorest in all of the history of the NFL. Cam’ passer rating 5.8 is his worse in his career. The good news is he didn’t have a zero passer rating which in NFL history has been done 72 times. Had he thrown one more interception this may have occured.

    Richard Wiseman

You’re right about AZ. .. but Brady was so absolutely predictable regardless. He ran like 5 basic plays. Few different looks off of each if those but still the same. And OMG if we run up the middle against a loaded box one more time….. fml. Lol. Brady was a liability. We have a few of those tbh but he was def one of them

    Dominic Faison

You said all that to say nothing. The fact you even me mentioned Cam was all I needed to read. Average Joke Brady didn’t get fired based off one game

    E M Worthan

I agree that they should of rotated QBs. Re: AZ game its easy to call plays on offense when you’re up 14 pts and defense is getting turnovers. Cam getting the ball in the end zone vs AZ twice had nothing to do w Joe Brady.

    Richard Wiseman

@E M Worthan really ain’t have much to do with Cam either 🤷‍♂️

Chevy Jr

Should have just broke the bank and bought in Lincoln Riley or Harbaugh smh🤦🏿‍♂️

Jerry Palmroos

I’m feeling very bad for Coach Matt on this entire situation….Clearly he’s upset and had an “episode” prior to this meeting with the press.

That said….Watch out, Falcons.

This team will be hot 🔥🔥🔥

I’ve only felt this positive about an upcoming Panthers’ win twice this season:
1. Jets
2. Cardinals

This is my third…

We win big. Take that to the bank, gambling silly-people.

Cheers!

Spartans Creed

He literally says the offense runs through me so why in the hell are we firing Joe….

Zack S

Our team is making panic moves 😂
People are fearing for their jobs…

    T T

    Exactly

Gabe Hester

All we need to do now is fix this tragic offensive line and get an OC that knows how to call an offense in the nfl. Good steps

Jake

Now do the right thing and hire Greg Olsen. He would make a great HC one day and defiantly understands offensive schemes.

David

Time to keep going in a different direction. Fire Rhule. They look like the same lame duck Panthers Rhule has been responsible for. He drafted former players, brought other college coaches in and continues to be sub-par.
