Rich Gannon: Josh Allen’s Emergence | Bills By The Numbers: Ep. 12

In this week's Bills By The Numbers podcast presented by FanDuel, Chris Brown and Steve Tasker take a look at the Bills success on first down on both sides of the ball. The two examine if scoring first in games improves a team's win probability. Steve is quizzed on which quarterbacks excel the most in the fourth quarter in The Numbers Game. Former NFL MVP/Sirius XM NFL Radio co-host Rich Gannon discussed Josh Allen's play through his first four seasons, his impressions of this year's Bills team and the AFC playoff landscape. Our FanDuel Hi-Lo predicts the teams with the highest and lowest totals across four statistical categories.

    kidwave1

Yea, Gannon seems like a good dude. Good analysis, delivered straight and matter of fact-ly.

Great Show guys. 👍
Terry Bradshaw has been one of Josh Allen’s biggest critics over the years, saying he’s not accurate.
For the record Bradshaw’s Career numbers are not good….
Completion %. 59.1
Passer Rating. 70.9
Touchdowns. 212
Interceptions. 210
That’s a sub 60% completion rate and pretty much a 50/50 Touchdown to Interception ratio…
As Diggs says : You, You, You & You. STFU Terry Bradshaw…
Apparently these are Hall of Fame numbers , lol.
And we can’t get Steve Tasker into a HOF Jacket…Sheesh !!!!!!

Terry’s always been salty. He benefitted from great teams around him that didn’t require him to do much other than the occasional big play or toughness. That era of football asked QBs to do about a third of what modern QB play requires.

    Celta Classroom

Terry’s always been thin-skinned and a bit of a grudge-holder. Still, keep in mind that he played in a different era, when rules changes hadn’t yet absurdly advantaged the pass over the run. No QB’s passing stats from the pre-1978 era can compare with those of the best passers today. That was a watershed year, as permissible contact by DBs against receivers was dramatically curtailed. Tellingly, Terry’s own passing stats improved significantly that year, as he recorded the first of his four best seasons for passing yards and TDs .

This team can play with anyone. It’s going to be more of a function of luck as to whether or not they win the Superbowl

    ArkOmen1

Yes you need luck to win but that is what I think they will have most of all. I’ve always had that feeling about Josh.

OceanMetTheSky

Allen will be one of the best qbs there ever was in a few years, I don’t care what anyone says.

    Chris Miller

@Keith Krieger Eddie George was about the same size, but shorter… never see Allen simply take on defenders, always tries to split them or go over them and that is smart.. maybe not going over them 🤔 , on 3rd and 1 may go straight head to head, but never seen him simply lower his shoulder and that wouldn’t be smart…he is not the best runner like Murray or jackson even though he does move better on the pocket , but he can take the contact much better…why you rarely see him slide , he tries to split defenders and hopefully take a glancing blow at worst…

    josh g.o.a.t allen

    yea your right

    Dale Bechtel

As long as he can stay healthy.thats what worries me the most

    Joe

Agreed. He’s going to be a hall of fame QB and bring more than one championship to the city of Buffalo. He’s entirely too talented for that to never happen. Very rarely can you see one player win a game by themselves. The only other person that I can recall would be like a Lawrence Taylor on defense. But this kid has it. Can’t wait to see him play for the next decade +

nyQwill818

I must have a hard on for Allen because all I been watching this week are his highlights.

Ryan Bauer

We can definitely win the super bowl but we are going to need a few things bounce are way to make it happen. Every super bowl winner had a horse shoe.

1snaj

Let’s just hope the refs don’t control the playoffs like they’ve control the regular season all year long….That said the Bills should have a good chance if the refs don’t get involved….

Min-Pin Papa

I wish you guys would ask Allen what Belechik said to him at the end of the game

    wkyken

As for freak of nature, Rich Eisen of NFL Network — who also has a daily talk show — calls Josh “The Mandalorian” because of his imposing size and strength. Interesting to note: The actor who actually plays the Mandalorian is only 5-feet-11.

Johnny

Incredible smart points by Rich!

ryan bennett bennett

I was not surprised about Isiahs day. In fact I started him in my fantasy playoffs.

    Z-ZOO 922

    Who did u bench?

    ryan bennett bennett

    @Z-ZOO 922 odell

    Z-ZOO 922

@ryan bennett bennett Me too 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂

Largemouth Hunter

Nobody talks about the fact that a run game helps keep the ball out of opponents hands. The one thing that hurt us in games we should of won is we didnt have a run game at all. ALL great teams use the run game to wear out the clock

Wilma Fingrdu

The guy is special and I wouldn’t want any other qb on my team💪🔥

John Hofer

We need a stud running back- Buffalo should trade Jax for Etienne- it’ll bring us a Super Bowl!

Tory's Gaming Clips

Tasker has 7 pro bowls and was a first team all pro 7 seasons. It’s absurd that he didn’t get put in the hall smh.

Jose R

All i can say is Mckenzie needs to be out there more, other than returns.

steve sundberg

Gannon the Cannon! I enjoy good analysis from level headed vets of the NFL.
