@Shawn Manrick We need more than one edge rusher. And there are no guarantees about Lawson considering his injury history! Trust me, I haven’t forgotten about Lawson!

@Shawn Manrick Dude, I am not doubting how good he will be, I am simply saying that edge rusher is more important than taking a corner. Also, don’t forget, JD and Saleh love building from the trenches out, not the other way around.

@Shawn Manrick No they don’t. Great edge rushers are great because they are elite, and great corners are great because they are elite. They don’t make each other great. But if you want to stop WR’s from making big plays, sack the QB!
If we are not going edge.. why not grab the best player (likely) available, and the best LT prospect in the last several years in Evan Neal? Becton has proven to be unreliable, and there are stalled contract negotiations with Fant. Secure the LT position, and let the best man win on the RT spot between Becton and Fant.
at least for 2022 season one of those tackles would hardly be playing. If it is Becton then that is a massive L. Fant was the best Olinemen on the team last year.
@Johnny Jets Fant is also in the last year of his contact, and talks on an extension have stalled. Whomever loses the position battle at RT would be traded. In an ideal scenario, it Becton would win the job, however, if he doesn’t, well, there is your answer. Move on from Becton and overpay for Fant. Securing the tackle positions should be the main priority over edge or a perimeter skill position player, IMO.
@John If Becton does not pan out then that 2020 draft is just as bad as any of Mike Maccagnans. Again Fant was our best Olinemen last season. If he plays as good as he did last season i would extend him. Problem is what if we draft Icky or Neal and it turns out that both Becton and Fant are good? Now your forced to get rid of a good player. I just think there are bigger needs on the team. Our defense was ranked dead last this past season. Edge and middle linebacker are thin. I am hoping we get Deebo honestly but we do need a true receiving threat to pair with Elijah Moore. I personally don’t see Cory Davis sticking around after next season.

Maybe they know something that we don’t and the Jets have already agreed to trade for Deebo, giving up the 35th, 38th and 68th pick. If that’s the case, they don’t go receiver at 10, but instead go pass rusher. So taking Sauce at 4, isn’t a bad plan if they like Jermaine Johnson or Karloftis at 10.
Maybe Elijah Moore is a WR 1. He showed signs before his injury last year. I wouldn’t be upset if we took 2 defensive picks in the first round and WR in 2nd. We had the worst defense in the league last year. We also signed the 2 best TE’s available in FA this year…..Either way it’s going to be interesting and I trust JD.
(Sauce and Karloftis would be a huge upgrade)
I’d still select Neal or Ekwonu over Sauce and definitely pick JJ if he’s there at 10. Or go JJ then take another receiver at 10.
@B Trav poor QB play made the Offense struggle which made the D stay on the field forever. Helping Zach helps the D.
@ursdj17 Can’t argue with that.. If they have doubts about Becton, they will take Ekwanu if available. I agree about helping Zach but its a “double edged sword”. Last years playoffs were an example of teams who couldn’t get defensive stops…..but they all had pretty damn good offenses. At this stage, for the Jets, I agree that we have to focus on getting Zach help but man, the Rams won because they punished Burrow and Buffalo lost because they couldn’t get stops late against KC.
Jets are going to need to hit on those first 4 picks…..and I hope we get at least 2 studs on defense…..we scared exactly no one last year. The defense was almost unwatchable. The end of the Bucs game was pathetic and Zach was playing well at the end of the year (and in that game).
Not trying to argue with you here…..but we still need a lot of help…LOL!
@B Trav I would prefer Neal over Ekwonu from what I’ve read. Neal has more experience in pass protection. If the D line executes how it’s intended, and QB performs properly, the D won’t be exposed as poorly.
Football is not about worrying more about your opponent than executing your own game plan!
Who cares who the division has at WR? They gotta worry about who the F the Jets got!

Hutchinson, Sauce, Neal or Ekwonu @ 4. The most pro ready 4 players in this draft along with Kyle Hamilton who we should not take @ 4. Thibodeaux is also a reach for me @ 4, as is Jermaine Johnson. Nice very talented players but taking at 4 is high. Same with Stingley and all of the WR. Get a WR @ 10 or 35. Stingley may end up close to or better than Sauce. Needs more time to show out right away though. Think both are almost can’t miss corners in the end run
Hutchinson and 1 of the OL won’t be there at 4. Bank on it.

But we were also able to get to the qb. We got sacks. Given it also helped that the qb had to hold onto the longer with revis and cromaetie at the time.
Didn’t matter who was rushing up front when you had guys like REVIS, Cromartie, Rhodes, Leonhard, Ihedigbo, Smith etc on the back end and guys like Taylor, Harris, Scott and Pace at LB…… I’m with you all the way bro

Love ya Rich but as a life long jets fans like u did u see how bad our pass rush has been for over 10 years yes sauce will help us out tremendously but man we need some heat on these QB having Lawson back is great but he is coming off another torn ACL and we haven’t had a major upgrade in this position for years so pass rusher at 2 is a must there are great value at CB in round 2 and 3 just saying
I’m good with sauce at 4. But I’m not mad if an elite pass rusher is there. I just feel we don’t draft well when it comes to edge rushers. Then again we overall don’t draft well. Last year was the first time in a long time I was like this is an amazing draft. And 10th pick wr or if we pick edge with four and sauce is through miracle still there at 10 grab him. Then I would feel good about our defense heading into this season. Cause we can still probably grab a solid wr in the second at 35.

Rich Eisen you need to do some listening to your coaches that actually know about football. Salah has said repeatedly u-stop Elite quarterback and receiver connections with Elite pass rush in our defensive scheme not one time have they said you go spend 20 million or draft an elite quarterback. All the connections you have and still don’t have a clue how our football scheme Works its honestly embarrassing. They will not be drafting sauce because if he turns into a superstar they don’t want to pay cornerbacks 20 million a year. There’s only a couple positions Joe Douglas and Sala believe should make 20 million a year it’s left tackle quarterback wide receiver and pass-rusher that’s it you will never see this team pay anybody else more than 20 million a year why those two were in charge
I think Rich is just a casual Jets fan, I don’t think he is a football head like a lot of us Jets fans. But I could be wrong about that, but just listening to him sometimes makes me scratch my head, like really?
