William Jakola

It pains me to say this but Zach might not be the answer for the jets at qb

    -_EvilSkittles_-

I honestly think we should wait on saying this after this upcoming season is over. If he doesn’t take a leap year 2 then I might be on board with this.

    Jon Solo

Why? I understand first year wasn’t so pretty, but he showed clear improvement by the end of the season. I think before anyone can say he’s the answer or he’s not the answer, we gotta wait until the end of year 2, and maybe even year 3 if his year 2 shows solid improvement but isn’t up to where it needs to be yet. I like to allow QB’s to develop before we write them off so early

But I would like to know why you don’t think he’s the answer (don’t worry I’m not about to rip you a new one if i don’t like your answer haha, just wanna have a football discussion)

    William Jakola

@Jon Solo Sure he had some highlights, but he struggled against real defenses and he battled injuries. I’m not saying draft a qb immediately after just drafting him very high, but to me he just doesn’t seem like a long term answer.

    Jon Solo

@William Jakola yeah i get that. Coming from BYU, he didn’t face the toughest competition honestly, so when you’re thrown into the NFL after that, it’s gonna be way more difficult than probably any of us realize. I think Zach Wilson, while shows talent, needed to be able to develop and adjust to the NFL level. When he got hurt against the Patriots (on a cheap late hit) and sat out 4 games, i honestly think that was the best thing for him. He came back and showed immediate improvement, he was just a different player he turned the ball over only twice in i think 7 games was it? Not to mention this also happened after they brought Joe Flacco in and Wilson was able to have a veteran presence to guide him. I think after having the off-season with Joe Flacco and with Wilson training with all his receivers it should be expected that he makes a jump. I love the Jets but there’s absolutely no denying that 2 years ago we were as dysfunctional as can be, and then last year we were a brand new team almost every position had a rookie starting. I don’t wanna make excuses for him, but it’s understandable why he would struggle coming in, which is why I think year 2 when EVERYONE is more experienced will really tell us if he’s our guy, which i hope he is
