Is Trevor Penning Still a First-Round Option? | Ravens Final Drive

The Ravens already added an offensive tackle this offseason, but could they bring another into the mix with this draft?

Brady M.

Get a corner first round, trade up and get one of the top DL, and get Ojabo in the second. We’ll still have about 5 picks probably which is plenty

    Bookie mane

@chico lee no 3 down back what I said or thought I said. Breece is that kind of back that’s why I said Gus and jk are good but they ain’t no Johnathan Taylor type back. Breece is that kind of back my bad if I typed 3rd as in if 3rd down only that was a typo. Hell naw that boy a dog and w.e team he goes to is gonna be happy. Spiller is good but he ain’t that Taylor type I’m talking about. Hall is that bruh, look at our division we now got the worst group of backs. We need Hall not another Gus or JK type, Spiller would still require a 3rdndown back in the NFL. Hall NFL ready. There is a difference to me just from the tape.

    Bookie mane

@chico lee imma check out more tape on spiller though, he would be a good pick if available after the second and we still need to drat a back.

    B Camm

@Bookie mane I think if ravens didn’t hv so many more pressing needs, Hall would be in play. Bills might grab him in first round

    Bookie mane

@B Camm we can make it happen. Davis and Hall would be solid. I’d hate to see another AFC team get his services. We got all three rb coming off big injuries. Hall would be a better addition than any wr we could reach for. We can trade down in the first if possible to get Davis then move up in the second to get hall. Make it happen EDC!

    B Camm

@Bookie mane lol. You would be a bold GM…

Emik Rellik

Please don’t pass up the 1st round talent on defense. Our O line is ok if everyone heals fine. Our defense needs talent

_cxrtified

Jordan Davis would be the best option for our 14th pick, then give up some of our 4th round picks for a good enough 2nd round O-lineman.

@GoldLion198 Again, all i’m asking is for you or anyone else to prove it. Don’t just say he could be this or could be that. What has he shown in the pass rush department on film? I don’t want to sound down on the kid because I think he’s great at what he does which is stop the run. However if we’re crying after every game about getting interior pass rush, why draft someone who’s never shown it so high and hope he can develop into what we need? Are we in love with the actual play style or the crazy combine performance and potential of what he might be one day?

    Tonja Bowman

@Ravensfan23 * Right I don’t want him as the first round pick

    B Camm

@Ravensfan23 * ravens drafted Oweh off potential who was an edge with zero sacks. Davis does the dirty work man and will make other guys jobs easier.

    Andrew Rout

@Ravensfan23 * Just like Ngata, who wasn’t much of a pass rush threat most of his career, you don’t draft guys like Ngata and Davis to put up stats. You draft guys like that to swallow blockers and make the guys behind him better. That’s exactly why Ray asked the FO to draft Ngata, remember?
Drafting Davis gives us an elite run stuffer, a guy who can also help contain these mobile QBs, and along with Pierce and Calaias, would give us a literal 1000lb wrecking crew.

    Matt Bergamin

@Ravensfan23 * He can improve, would be taking a gamble on an elite level athlete, who could be an elite player. apparently he slimmed down and got stronger for the combine

Twan52

Man idc who we draft, just had to put my pup to rest. I’m praying for a super bowl

    king shark

    ThePhoenix

Keegan Jack

Cyrus K

Ik it’s not his personal opinion but they can’t think we this stupid 🤣 he hasn’t been mock to us nowhere Ive seen and wasn’t there last two video about mocks that didn’t have this guy coming to us 😂🤦🏾‍♂️

Ravensfan23 *

This is a tough one because I really like Penning as a player but I like him more as a long term RT. I think a guy like Nicholas Petit-frere might be just as good of an option in the 2nd round. But they want someone to sure up the interior while also providing positional flexibility across the entire oline. Kenyon Green just might be your guy!

    Stuart Schwartz

No, not a tough call. He’s used upper body strength against weaker college players to mask poor technique on pass defense. As for “playing tough”, his tough play in college is called a 15 yard personal foul in the NFL. Overrated for Ravens. Lindebaum from Iowa smart skilled, but too small for our O-line and not an easy transition to guard if needed. Look for the Center from Kentucky in 3rd or 4th round to shore up interior line. That said we do need another OT who’s not just big.

    Ravensfan23 *

@Stuart Schwartz I think he’d be a mistake to assume the kid can’t compete with better talent. However I don’t completely disagree with you view of him. But I still think the kid has the potential to develop into a top RT in the NFL. #14 is way too high but mid 20s is not imo. Funny you mention Luke Fortner. I literally just used the UK vs UGA game to show someone how Jordan Davis is just an elite 1 down player. Fortner had his issues in that game but held up overall. Honestly I think the Ravens have enough developmental interior guys. If they are gonna address the Center position I’d much rather it be Kenyon Green or Zion Johnson. Either guy would immediately be our best option at LG day 1 and slide over to Center next year imo. If we miss on either, I wouldn’t mind Fortner but only in the 4th or 5th. We should be looking for impact in the 3rd not another development guy unless he’s a OT who slipped.

Baltimore Get Up

Sure if it’s One of the top 3 Tackles but you really need to get a pass rusher or comer back. Offenses diced us up and we we ranked 24th in pass rush seems foolish not purse defense over a position that invested in Stanley coming back, signing Morgan Moses and Jawuaan James.

Marcell Allen

I hope we trade back a little to like pick 17 or trade back in the 1st round at round pick 25 or later two get 2 good players for the next 5 years and keep our 2nd round pick this year this make the most sense to me we have hole too fill at outside linebacker and LT even if Stanley ready come week 1 lets have a someone list in case its been 2 years and if Stanley ready come week 1 we have a starting guard and we still need a corner back or 2 and in the 5th get a running back just in case

    Ravensfan23 *

I think the only option the Ravens have for a day 1 starter at LT in this draft is hoping Cross falls to #14 if that’s the route they want to go. I love your idea to trade back because there really isn’t only 1 or maybe 2 who i’d personally feel confident in saying no matter where they are drafted they’ll be great. So trading down to get more players in a deep draft is smart imo. If they are going the Oline route, I’d much rather a guy like Kenyon Green or Zion Johnson to sure up that interior of the oline for years to come and then sign a Vet as insurance for Stanley if that is a concern for them. If you’re going developmental LT, i think 2-4 round is a better value.

Steven Carnevale

Nah take Davis

Dopewell 804 Shyt

If we draft an tackle at 14 he has to be an day 1 starter and if he is the day 1 starter what will happen with Ronnie do we trade Ronnie Stanley…if ready to go do Ronnie stay at left tackle and our draft pick start at right tackle and then if that happens what we do Morgan and Juwan are they the back ups??? And Trevor at 14 is crazy frfr

    chico lee

In my opinion that tackle i’d move to left guard while making the solid BEN CLEVELAND the RG over Kevin zietler whom im witness to him not being the best Run blocker where he excels at is sealing defenders off in pass pro and while highlights of his will always be highlights i dont see him on the team during post june 1st cuts in my opinion.

Dopewell 804 Shyt

Abraham Lucas…Tyler Smith…Kellen Diesch…Rasheed Walker are good tackle prospects in the 2nd 3rd or 4th

    Ravensfan23 *

You can add Braxton Jones and Nicholas Petit Frere. If the Ravens weren’t comfortable with Stanley’s progress they should have added a vet not a developmental 1st rounder.

    Dopewell 804 Shyt

@Ravensfan23 * you right forgot about them two I like them too

Mats Roe

Please no…no disrespect. Do NOT draft this man.

    StraightUpPiano

Man’s a penalty machine in the making

Austin Account

I swear if they get a tackle 1st round. If he’s still there in late rounds tan yeah I’ll take him to protect lamar

Random Highlights

Please please please DON’T draft Penning. Fake tough guy and overall slow. He tested well but he’s fundamentally not a sound player. Don’t want him.

Broly

Yes lamar need protection

Steven E

Jace Woods

Zee Righteous 1
