We should draft wr if 1 of two beast wrs are still there. We might as well sharpen our sword on offense

    Frank Gonzalez

    Curious… who’s your #1/#2?

    Arvie Weathers

@Frank Gonzalez Wilson,London but how u feel about david bell in 2nd rd if we dont go wr with 12th pick?

    Frank Gonzalez

I got Williams/Wilson. But tbh, I’ve seen the name but haven’t really dug into him/style of play. I’ll check him out. Just hope we get someone who’s can contribute right away, regardless of position.

more draft capital 😆

It seems that many fans are locked in a short term view. Thielen & Harry will almost certainly be cap casualties next season – and I’d suggest that Kwesi will not want to use his first two 2023 draft picks on a starting WR and Safety. I doubt he’d also want to spend $25-30m on a WR2 in FA, so it seems obvious to me that WR will be the pick at 12 this year.
When you think about OConnell scheming what he could do with Jameson, Wilson or London alongside JJ (& Thielen if he’s healthy), and the fact that KO signed OBJ even when he had Kupp, Woods & Van Jefferson – it seems inevitable. Especially after Kwesi spent all FA upgrading the defensive starters, and virtually nothing on offense except a functional RG in Reed and TE2 in Mundt.

It confuses me why so many fans think it will be CB when Kwesi has his 2 outside starters, and has signed 3 competent FAs to compete with Hand for the part time and de-emphasized slot position. Kwesi has his 2022 starting CBs, and I’d suggest he is only looking for a day 2 guy to groom behind P2 ready to start next year, and the same at Safety, a day 2 guy to take over from Harry.

It seems that many fans and draft pundits have not understood Kwesi’s bottom up roster rebuild that will already see up to 7 different defensive starters this season, and how he might use the draft to plan succession from the few remaining older core members of the roster – Thielen, (Peterson) & Harry this year, and Kendricks (Hicks) & Cousins in 2023.

I completely disagree with TE as a need. KO doesn’t feature TE2 in his offence and his first move in FA was to bring HIS guy Mundt over from the Rams. Mundt ran 4.72 at the Combine, faster than Conklin’s 4.8 and graded 64 in 2020 & 2021 compared to Conklin’s 52 and 66. So there is a strong argument that Mundt is an upgrade over Conklin, and I think KO has already settled that, and fans thinking otherwise are still thinking in the Zimmer era.

Conklin developed very reliable hands. Mundt, after watching some tape of his, isn’t on the same level.

    Rob E

@Luke D Mundt hands are 100% for the last 2 seasons, admittedly only 5/5.

However, that is missing the point – the fact is Mundt was OConnell’s TE2 for 2 seasons and was only on the field for 220 snaps in 22 games including one start!

TE2 doesn’t get on the field in KOs offence, so I doubt Kwesi will waste a pick on competition for a back up that never gets on the field. We already have a 5th round traits project on the practice squad, and the proposal is to add another one??

I’d suggest the purpose of the draft is to upgrade the roster, not create redundancies.

But back to Mundt, he only ever had to start one game for the Rams, in 2020 and flashed as a pass catcher in that start, so you might want to add that to your watch list if you want to know why KO has a different read, given that he was Mundt’s OC for the last 3 years. It was also pretty telling that Mundt was signed very quickly in the FA process.

I remember when J Reid was just on the climbing the pocket podcast. It’s really cool hearing him referred to as a representative of ESPN. Just goes to show how you can achieve great things if you grind hard and love what you do. Much love J Reid! Shout out to my North Carolina boys (Gabe too)

Oli udoh is the same thing as Dakota dozier.. so don’t tell me that you think he’s a starter.. if you think that you know zero about what happens in the Trenches

Zay

If the Vikings want a receiver he needs to be a speedy deep threat and spreads the defense out
