Vikings Highlights

I hope thielen stays a Viking until he retires

    Cody Kirschbaum

He clearly will. He won’t play for another team. And with his production on the field can’t get rid of this TD machine. And with KJ and JJ we’re on good hands for the future along with ISM in year two being that deep threat with great speed and Smith our offense will be more lethal than last year.

Darrin Tasto

The best way to describe thielen is he’s adaptable. Bring MN that superbowl trophy before you retire though please

Most favorite player of all time

Tom

If there was ever a “Mr. Vikings.” it was and is Adam Thielen. Minnesota born and bred and a Minnesota Viking through and through. I’d love to see him become a WR coach here when it’s time to hang up the cleats.

    Tom

@Xenocide X Not a bit. He was a PAID PR guy for the team and still lived in Jacksonville FL. That must sound like a “Viking fan” to you, but sounds more like an “employee” to me. Give me enough money, and I’ll be the best voice in the world for the Green Bay Packers. I see no difference here. Was he a Viking fan at age 12? Adam was. Without being paid a dime, as a matter of fact.

    onebolttwonuts

Yes!!! Would love him to continue here for years after his playing career is over.

    Samuel Knudson

@Tom Adam said on Ben Leber’s podcast recently he has no intentions to ever coach at any level, even his sons soccer teams. With his $100 Million + from football he’ll continue his ETS strength & conditioning business locally and play an egregious amount of golf.

    Tom

@Samuel Knudson Okay, thanks, Sam. I didn’t know that. I hate to see him just fade away when he retires, but if that’s what he wants, that’s what he should do.

    Gluck Gluck 5000

@Tom Yeah his story is really cool, these people really dont understand that he’s literally just a Minnesotan just like u and me, and he’s always been one! A real one, not someone who was just born here and went off to live in LA or something, someone who lived the rugged northern Minnesotan life and loves it.

Diff one of my favorite players great guy

Thought he was gonna get cut but glad he didn’t

    Rob E

Early in 2023 before his 19m contract guarantees. He’ll likely retire before he is a salary cap cut. Great player but reality is he hasn’t finished a regular season since 2018. I think Kwesi will draft his successor in the 1st, and Thielen will probably end up a situational WR3 – 3rd & 4th downs, and red zone.

    Charles Groebner

@Rob E I think it will depend on who’s available at our pick. Corners are a number one priority, if none one good is available draft the best player.

    Rob E

@Charles Groebner Yes, I agree that it depends who is there, but I don’t agree CB is our number 1 priority at all.

Upgrading CB was certainly our biggest priority last season but Kwesi has already added 5 upgrades at CB (arguably 6 if you include Cam D as the 2022 starter), from what Zimmer started last season, so that’s an out of date priority now.

I’d suggest finding a WR1b and starting SS would be a higher priority than CB. Given the current market for WRs I’d suggest that is clearly Kwesi’s top priority going into the draft. I think some Vikes fans are a bit stuck in the moment and not thinking about what Kwesi & KOs long term plan might be. Kwesi will almost certainly cut Thielen and Harrison Smith in 2023 to save $28m in cap space. That suggests he really needs to find their replacements in this draft.

Kwesi keeps talking about planned transition and intentional thinking. I think that’s very different from the reactive thinking of most fans that bounce from one perceived weakness to another without a real plan.
Kwesi has attacked the roster weaknesses in FA. I don’t think it’s likely that he will double down on the same things in the draft, when he knows he will probably have at least 2 major gaps in his starting line up next year, if he doesn’t plan for that now.
I still think he will draft a CB because P2 is a placeholder, but I doubt he forces it in the 1st round.
I also think Kwesi will see WR as a higher positional value, and better player value at 12, which is a lot different to some fans who seem to be stuck thinking that Mack and Breeland are still on the roster.

It’s also worth considering that aside from Ramsey, KO started 2 UDFAs and a 3rd rounder at CB last year, so he hasn’t spent lots of draft capital at CB, but he did go and get OBJ in FA when he already had Kupp, Woods and Van Jefferson – a WR trio that is objectively better that what we have now in JJ, Thielen and KJ. Thielen didn’t really make it past week 11 for the second time in 3 years and is the 2nd oldest of 94 starting WRs in the league…

One of the best WR in the NFL

Cody Kirschbaum

Thielen looks really good. No cap. The leaner look will help him stay healthy I believe and with the changes in his diet should all work well.

Stormy Upton

Best viking to do it!!

J P

Wish he would’ve spoke about the health of the ankle!

Spindog

Thielen needs to step up and be a leader on this team,…that would help. Thielen might think Cousins is or is supposed to be the leader on the offense,..nope.
