Really don’t care about the ‘juice”…Just win baby!

    prod.

“juice” is motivation, it takes motivation to win, so your saying you don’t care about winning, effectively.

Soon reality will sink in. Russ Hollywood is an average QB maybe will get you to the playoff and lose in the first game.

    Huero Vidal

    So…Aaron Rodgers

    Ramone DeCurta

Shuddup hater. Russ has been in the league for 10 years killing it. His only average seasons were the years he was injured (2016 and 2021). He couldn’t be average if he regressed for the next 15 years!

    Ramone DeCurta

@Thomas Miller : Wth is wrong with you people?!

Russ did develop a few bad habits while in Seattle (esp. 2019-2021), but those habits were a response to the system in which he was playing and the scoring needs of the team.

The defense has been busted, which added scoring pressure.

Still, just as habits can develop they can be broken.

By virtue of the trade, Russ is on his way to combining the youthful athleticism of of Russ Y1-5 with the experience of Russ Y6-10.

That’s a hellafied combination of you add in the p!ssed off Russ who has seen his last three years wasted by an old, stubborn coach whose ego wouldn’t allow his QB to be the superstar he is meant to be.

    So, lets review here:

*Problem-1: Russ started seeing ghosts and developed a habit of bailing on the pocket too soon.*

*Solution-1: Protect the man and he will trust his new O-Line.*

A Russ who can justifiably trust his O-Line is as dangerous as any elite QB in the league, likely much more dangerous.
    ________________________________

*Problem-2: Russ began to hold the ball for too long.*

*Solution-2: An offense-oriented coach with a more dynamic scheme that allows the WRs to get open sooner.*

When Russ had Doug Baldwin, Sidney Rice, Golden state, Jermaine Kearse as WRs, Jimmy Graham and Zach Miller as his TE’s, and Beast Mode as his RB, he unloaded the ball quickly.

Go watch his old tapes from 2016 backwards. He also had notably quick release times in 2018 and 2020. The sh*t is overblown, bit when it occurs its becauae it needs to.

He doesn’t have a vision problem, and he wasn’t being stubborn. He was protecting his receivers (especially Lockett) and maintaining a high completion percentage.

He wasn’t holding the ball because he wanted to or due to indecision.

That would have put him at more risk for being hit, which he doesnt want. He held it because his receivers aren’t open, and his receivers weren’t open because Pete’s scheme is too predictable. .
    ________________________________

*Problem-3: Russ hasn’t been using the center of the field nearly enough and refuses to throw the ball away when nothing is available, forcing passes and risking INTs.*

*Solution-3: Let the man throw more!*

Again, this problem disnt exist earky in Russ’s career, so look at external factors. Secondly, Russ is one of the most deadly accurate passes in NFL history, but as long as he was getting fewer than 30 attempts per game, he was right to push a bit. Throwaways would have hurt his completion percentages.

Coupled with the Seahawks’ shaky run game (e.g., Chris Carson injured every other game) this would have led to horrible results for Russ and the team.

Passes to the middle of the field are risky for any QB, but QB’s are more likely to embrace the risk when their route-runners are sharp, gain separable fron defenders, durable, and know how to extend routes.

Tyler Lockett was never a good target over the middle unless wide open, mainly because he wasn’t very durable. There was a time when he looked like a potential injury-bust, like Paul Richardson.

DK Metcalf, who is durable and has good hands, was/is an average route-runner at best, but he can take a hit. He tended to sulk if not given the ball on a first read. He could have used some time with Doug Baldwin.

Russ will hit guys over the middle and be inclined to throw the ball away when he is allowed more attempts and can afford throwaways. He also needs receivers who run crisp routes and extend them whenever necessary — and can absorb hits.
    ________________________________

*Problem-4: Russ hasn’t shown the mobility that he did in his early years. Maybe he is declining physically.*

*Solution-4: The trade to Denver was the solution. Pete Carroll is a stubborn, defense-oriented, run-first bonehead!*

Maybe Russ checked out a little on Pete Carroll in the latter 1/3 of 2020 and in mid-to-late 2021, but knew that he was auditioning for other teams, and didn’t want to risk his body for a coach who was only handcuffing him and the team for the coach’s own selfish needs.

To be fair, every QB is going to be at least 1/2 a step slower post age-30. That’s life.

But Russ could afford to lose that 1/2 step. Word in Denver is that he’s slimming down, doing more quick-burst leg drills, and plans on running more this season. That doesn’t bode well for Denver’s opponents.

If Russ gets down to 205 — which he will be able to afford if well protected by his new O-Line — don’t be shocked if he has a monster rushing year: 550-600 yards, maybe.

He has done that before and in fact exceeded it with a career high single season rushing total of 846 yards (2014).

Russ isn’t declining. He gained a few pounds to protect his bones from the unnecessary hits, and he lost his desire to put it all on the line for Pete Carroll.

How can anyone blame him? And how ironic is it that he finally suffered a career-threatening injury anyways, thanks to years of Pete Carroll criminally neglecting that O-line?

*Another note: Russ’s contribution to his own sack rate was/is way overblown.*

According to PFF, Russ caused 20% of his sacks over his first 10 years, which amounts to about one sack every other game according to the same PFF report. For a mobile QB averaging 500 rushing yards perseason, that’s an incredible amount of efficiency.

Besides, Russ’s chief complaint was about being “hit,” not just “sacked. ”

Think of how many sacks he has avoided over the past decade. Based on his sack rate, which is now north if 400.

I would bet that the number is easily between 1,600 and 2,000. If you’re a Seahawks fan and don’t appreciate that, there’s no help for you. Russ has been the most pressured QB in multiple seasons. For every sack he takes, he likely avoids 4-5, and more often than not makes sone type of magic happen on at least one of those avoided sacks.
    ________________________________

*Problem-5: Russ likes the deep ball too much.*

*Solution-5: Russ is playing to one of his greatest strengths, so embrace it…use it!*

Denver’s coaching staff has openly stated that this will be their approach in 2022, and I cannot wait to see it.

No one throws it deep as well as Russ does, and stretching the D opens up the run game at the LoS, the same way a 3-point shooter like Steph Curry relieves pressure in the middle by forcing defenders to come outside.

    Why don’t people get that?

Russ has shown that he can play small-ball effectively and doesn’t mind doing it. He won a Super Bowl and nearly another by doing it.

What he doesn’t want to do is hand the ball off 65 times a game. That’s like asking a power hitter in baseball to bunt or hit singles every other at-bat.

Russ is one of the smartest QBs in the game. He will do whatever is necessary to win. If you want ball control he will execute that to perfection.

    Thomas Miller

@Ramone DeCurta why the long boring painful rant, when I wasn’t even ragging on RW ?

    Scott Humphreys

I’m a Seahawks fan I hope he does well in Denver. It will be fun to watch whatever happens. It was getting boring in Seattle so this was good for everyone.

5 year contract. I am thinking 5 Superbowls in a row. The 1st EV–VER 5 peat in NFL history will begin on the day he was traded to Denver bruh. Next is Preseason is to see who develops pretty fast as wide outs and the tight ends as well for in general known as the Biz Marky song goes. You Got what 👁 Neeed. I like watching preseason to see which rookie will rise to the occasion and shines brighterthen all the rest Bruh that underdog Bruh. Then they let him go bruh. Line holding up like a Wall. A wall means no penetration not getting through== More time in the pocket= cake and milk in a bowl= Go To Town On That. That means Russell is gonna eat that defense up like cake and milk 🥛 Hey I like all chocolate cakes and milk in a big popcorn bowl it was a alright metaphor you get it. I am going BIG SoN, Bruh. 5 of 5 wins for superbowls Bruh. I Believe bruh I can Hackett it with a strong Wil.
