I can’t make up my mind on how I feel about this game. My first reaction is obviously that I’m furious. Losing this game could very well be the difference between making and missing the playoffs this year. And WTF is the point of getting vaccinated if guys are going to be forced to miss games anyway, even if they are vaccinated and asymptomatic? To make matters worse, from the time Baker was drafted in 2018 (and probably even before that as well), every single time the Browns play the Raiders, the refs shaft the Browns in any way they possibly can. The Browns have played the Raiders (I believe) every single year since 2018 and in every one of those games, the final result was determined by MULTIPLE bad calls by the refs AGAINST the Browns. If the Browns are going to be playing with a bunch of practice squad players AND they are going to have to deal with the refs too, then this game is over before it starts.

But I said I can’t make up my mind on how I feel because on the other hand, this is what happens when you go through the entire season underachieving and playing at a level far below what your team SHOULD be playing at. If we had won those early close games against the Chargers, Chiefs and Squealers THAT WE SHOULD HAVE WON, then this game really wouldn’t even matter. We’d be well out ahead in first place in the AFC North and losing this game and the Green Bay game next weekend would be no big deal as long as we won the last two. Instead, we lost all of those close early games and now COVID could derail this entire season. This was initially one of the more winnable games of the Browns’ last five and now it looks like an impossible task. This team put themselves in this position and now we are praying for practice squad players and a third string QB to bail us out.

This is exactly why I hate it when players and coaches act like it’s “no big deal” when they lose games early in the season “because we have a lot of games left to play”. Well guess what…when unforeseen situations like this arise late in the season, all of those early losses that were supposedly “no big deal” are now HUGE DEALS! This team SHOULD BE at least 10-3 heading into this game and it SHOULD BE “no big deal” that we are ravaged by COVID and will almost certainly lose. Instead it could absolutely be what ends up putting the final nail in the coffin of this season for the Browns.

This WILL NOT end well. Period. That’s our season y’all, even if we beat green bay doesn’t matter we need this conference win…
