David Njoku: “I know what we have here, and we can’t look back at the past”

OBJ was left too long in the locker room. He talked so much about wanting the ball which takes away from the team. That was management’s fault for letting the old negativity in the locker room fester.
Also the injuries across the board, and bad calls keep falling on Baker’s shoulders instead of where they belong. I miss Baker’s fun spirit and passion … the Browns seem to sap the essence out of their players. Baker brought Lake Travis High School, TE College & OU College to championship games, he is not used to losing. 🙄 🏈

Also, last year Stefanski was out with Covid when they went to the playoffs. He didn’t call at least 2 games. In fact, that girl in the office was in charge! I think Baker threw more than use the running game with more freedom to do so. When he had 8 targets it worked well last year. Maybe so many drops this year has shaken his confidence in his receivers. He didnt have these issues at OU. They rarely dropped a caught ball and made a real effort to get one close.
The Steelers game had at least 7 drops after good balls were caught! Three of those were Landry’s, 2 were Njoku’s, 1 OBJ’s (plus 1 he reached with 1 hand & missed) and even Higgins dropped one. Now additionally Landry’s spirit is really hurting since his dream of he & OBJ living next door and raising their families together is not going to happen. OBJ isn’t ready for kids and really missed the celeb life, but Landry was so happy he was in Cleveland. I think it is effecting Landry’s play. 🙂

@Southern Lady Stefanski only missed the Wildcard game, and Van Pelt picked up the calling duties, not rookie hire Callie Brownson. She is Chief of Staff and filled in as interim tight end coach for one game because Drew Petzing was out for the birth of first child, along with 3 coaches out with COVID.

True we had injuries, but Kevin also mismanaged his best assets on the field. He used Kareem Hunt WAY TOO MUCH in the Cardinals game and got him hurt because of it. Without Hunt, the offense suffers. As cliche as it sounds, “Everything in moderation.”

@Edward Gaines I agree 100% with you on that. I love Chubb, but to me with all Hunt can do, he’s more of an asset than Chubb..playing at the same time, damn that’s just dangerous! If KS would design a scheme/system built around Baker and his strengths, Baker would be a top 10 QB. That’s exactly what the Chiefs did with Mahomes( which Baker beat all the time in CFB) and it’s what Baltimore did with Jackson and Arizona did with Murray. Matter fact Baker and Murray are basically the same player, of course Murray is way faster but Baker can use his legs effectively. Yet KS wants to make him something he’s not and as someone who’s watched Baket play since High school, I can tell by his body language and QBR that he isn’t liking it.
