Here’s what drives me insane that I see every week since the bye week on all forms of social media. Everybody talks about how shitty the offense has been in the red zone (ranked 29th in TDs scored 50.98% of the time), about how if they’d only score more TDs in the redzone that they’d have more wins. I do agree with them, but here’s the kicker. The Redzone defense is dead last (ranked 32nd in TDs scored, at a whopping 78.95% of the time). Put it this way.. the best Red zone offense in terms of TDs scored is the Niners at 71%, which means that technically EVERY WEEK the Raiders opponent has a better red zone offense then the league #1 red zone offense, regardless of how they’re ranked any other week. People say “if we’d only scored even 1 more TD against the WFT that they’d have won” and once again I agree, except that at the time of that game the Raiders were the 29th ranked RZ offense and the WFT was the 28th RZ offense. They were just slightly better than the Raiders at that time yet they went 2 for 2 in the RZ with two TDs against the Raiders. If the Raiders went 1 of 4 in RZ TDs, how did a team barely a percent or two higher than the Raiders go 2 for 2? Instead of being down 7-6 at halftime, the Raiders should have tied 3-3, then when the WFT scores in the 3rd quarter it should have been 6-3. Then if all the other scoring remained the same the Raiders get Jacobs TD (only go for 1 since they wouldn’t be down 14-12) and then after the Hobbs pick instead of being up 15-14 they are up 16-6 with just over 2 minutes left. The odds of the WFT scoring 2 TDs in less than 3 minutes is slim to none considering they only had 2 Red zone chances all game!! So plain and simple, while everybody is bitching about the offense and rightfully so, why aren’t they getting on the defense instead of saying “how the defense is keeping the offense in the game”. They are still ranked 26th in PPG allowed at 25.8, and that’s after the last two weeks where they’ve FINALLY held teams to 17 and under.
