They did, statistically, play the run very well until the last couple of games.
No 100 yard rusher until Chubb I think.

@zamfambam He’s referring to I believe 03 or 04 playoff game against the eagles when Ron Zook called the defense to play cover-2 and Manabb hit Freddie Mitchell on a slant route for 28yrds. That game still hurts as a diehard Packers fan; we had that game in the bag.
The one thing the defense has to do, win 1st down. It’s much easier to defend 2nd and 8 vs. giving them easy 2nd and 3rd downs that are manageable.

They seem to get worse the longer 3rd down is. They’ve played better on 3rd and short than 3rd and 8 plus

Defense overall this year has been decent. But these last two games our Defense has been playing too conservative against teams with basically all possession recievers. Don’t understand playing 10 yards off on a third and 6 🤷🏿♂️
Seems to me that they are scared of getting beat over the top.

The Glass is Half Full Mentality is Great – To A Point – At some point the Glass is shattered – I am Glad he said we have got to play the run better – No doubt about it. That remark came after he said overall we have played the run well. The attitude is too soft to win a championship – If they turn it around it will be the team not because of this coaches weak attitude

Barry needs to have his corners play at the line of scrimmage. Just seems they’ve been doing what Pettine did. A lot of soft coverage not wanting to give up the big play. Challenge Justin Jefferson, don’t give him a 10 yard cushion

Stopping the run has been an issue since the loss to the 49ers 2 years ago. Nothing was changed. Same exact personal same issue. This was total neglect by the GM.
220 yards rushing against this D? That’s atrocious. Reminded me of the Niners in the NFCCG. That won’t get it done. At all.
