Spends 10 mins talking about the Falcons and their pick, then spends 30 seconds on the Seahawks. The bias is real.
The bias is for east coast big market teams and the Cowboys as far as media coverage. Between the Seahawks and Falcons? Seriously? There is no difference in market attention as far as NFL Network is concerned, they just messed up, which doesn’t say much in a better direction, but it’s not some vast anti-Seahawk conspiracy.
@Pxray S I’m not trying to say there’s bias over the falcons vs the Seahawks. There absolutely is a bias towards west coast teams, especially towards the Seahawks. Media coverage of the Seahawks is either negative or non-existent, always has been even when we were super bowl contenders.
@Kyle Wheeler No way, the media LOVED the legion of boom, Russell Wilson, Marshawn, the 12th man, gum chewing hyuk, hyuk Pete, and that whole narrative. I can see why; it was a good story-line. Now, for a lot of the “hot take” they tend to focus on the Patriots (with TB) and the Cowboys, I think they’d like the NY teams in there but they suck so bad they can’t talk about them.

So they spend tons of time talking about specific teams and their picks and just gloss over the rest of the 1st round in a 52 minute segment? Why not spend a few minutes on each team equally?

As a Charger fan I’m almost positive the Chargers will NOT pick Penning. Two Reasons:
1) The right side of the Line was the weak point of the Offense last season. Drafting Penning means the Right side will STILL be the weak point.
He might be good in a couple years, but he isn’t Rashawn Slater. Chargers would rather give Matt Feiler or Brenden Jaimes a chance at RT and draft OLine in Day 2.
2) Chargers and Brandon Staley are creating a culture about winning and winning aggressively. Penning doesn’t win them any games. He’s not the best player, just a “need”.
One of the elite WRs or CBs instantly makes the Chargers a nightmare for teams to game plan for.
Also, my personal favorite option, is Devonte Wyatt to play 3 Tech (Maybe Jordan Davis). With Bosa and Mack on the edge, SJD and Austin Johnson as Nose.
With Chris Rumph, Breiden Fehoko and Jerry Tillery for Depth. Give Kenneth Murray one last chance to show up, behind that elite DLine.
So Penning can’t play RT?
@mikegustafson58 He can play the position. He just can’t play it at an NFL level, right now.
He wasn’t recruited out of High School. He went to a FCS (subdivision) school. He has very little coaching and it shows.
He has an ideal body, impressive athleticism and a good demeanor.
However watch his tape (especially the Senior Bowl). He would bully smaller guys by leaning on them, but he got consistently beat by “draftable” players.
The pass rushers in the AFC West are going to torch him.
@Shane The Titans have that problem now with Radunz but what are the alternatives? Just ignore the RT spot? Better off drafting him and giving him some help. Who else do you have? Down the road he might be able to play LT.
@mikegustafson58 Chargers don’t need a LT, they have a young All-Pro in Rashawn Slater. The Chargers can move Matt Feiler to RT, or give an opportunity to Brenden Jaimes or a day 2 Tackle (like Tyler Smith, Faalele or Lucas). All which are as good, if not better, than Penning right now.
That would allow them to take ANY “best player available” that drops to them at 17. Like any of the CBs, WRs or DLine (Wyatt💙).
There is no way, and I mean no way that if the trio of Devin Lloyd, Nakobe Dean and Jordan Davis still on the board for the Pats at 21 that they take a guard over those 3.
exactly, these are supposed to be NFL guys, but their picks are just bad. You think Belichek is passing on one of the top 3 defenders from the best defense in college. Devin Lloyd too. Id say he is more of a Belichek guy than anyone.
@chris wood would not mind seeing the pats take lloyd or dean. lloyd might not be available but i bet dean will be available… he has dropped a bit because of his lack of size and not participating in the combine. but i just dont see the point in taking jordan davis. the pats already have barmore, guy and godchaux.
