Michael Vick is obviously a special case.

He was not a particularly good passer and without his all-time great mobility he would not have made it as a starting QB.

It isn’t a fairness award we’re picking here, we’re trying to pick the player who will win.

We evaluate everything that matters, whether it is in the player’s control or not.

The height comparison is not the same, there are many short QBs going to the hall of fame.

@Jordy John Kenny Pickett is already elite. Hes this year’s Justin Herbert. Look at his throws, all tight spirrals with plenty of zip and great ball placement. And if you watch his highlights the kid can be electric as well. That fake slide that turned into a touchdown was one of the most electric jukes ive ever seen. I called it on Justin Herbert, I called it on Joe Burrow and im calling it with Kenny Pickett. If he gets drafted by Pittsburge watch out..Im a Buccaneers fan and dont watch college football so a non biased opinion. Id trade multiple picks to move up and draft him.

@Deezy Huligan exactly my thoughts. We hardly ever make splash in the draft tbh, with the exception of trading up for bush. Also I’m not completely sold on any of these guys completely, but I wouldn’t be mad at all if we somehow did end up with Pickett or Willis. Probably no chance of it happening, but we’ll see lol

@Deezy Huligan Knowing what we know now Pickett would absolutely get drafted ahead of Rosen and Darnold, and probably Mayfield.
Confidence in a draft class =/= That class will actually be that good.

I’d be very surprised if he falls to 20. I think the Steelers will need to trade up above the Saints to get him and maybe higher. I could see Carolina, Atlanta or Washington take him, even Seattle.

He’s probably not going to be reckless, maybe just unnecessarily avoiding risks at worst. But yes when he throws some picks it’s gonna be funny if the commentators do any puns.

@Андрей I believe what you’re referring to is his long release. He throws the ball like he’s throwing a baseball imo. Long, wide & a slower wind up. Yes, I do agree that a longer release will make timing just as crucial for him to prevent picks in the NFL simply bc NFL DBs break on the ball is much different than what he’s seen in college. An ACC Defensive back isn’t gonna be able to react/break on a ball like a mid to top tier CB in the NFL. So we’ll see how he fairs and adjusts.

Most of the time it’s just looking at the little things. All these throws should look good but footwork and throwing motion are the important things to take away. This is just box checking for QB prospects

@rukus I keep seeing everyone parrot this but wtf does it mean? What makes Malik a “project”? STILL waiting for someone to articulate wtf they’re talking about when they say that

@KR S A project is a definite non NFL ready QB. They’re someone you for sure see future capability in, but gonna to sit at least a year, usually more and adapt to the NFL game in general as well as learn a pro style offense. Most say Pickett, on the other hand, is NFL ready, as in to play year 1. Hope that answers it.

@rukus what makes Malik not ready is my main question. What do people see in Malik that says “yeah, he’s not a starter yet”. I’m just failing to see why he gets called a project but I don’t hear it about any other prospect. Why can’t he come in and start? What’s he missing?

@Briguy1027 yeah, right now that is true, but Pickett wasn’t nearly as accurate a year ago. That only really matters if Willis doesn’t improve that area. I’m not saying he definitely will, but it’s something that can be improved through coaching and reps.

@Cujobob Idk he just seems more natural as passer. It’s almost lighter/neater. Like if you watch Tua throw, or Wentz/Wilson on deep balls, it’s very light, soft. Rodgers throws a very neat, compact ball. Some QBs just get the ball where it needs to be, and put it nicely right to the WR’s pocket. Willis to me seems to kinda strong arm it kinda like Cam or Lamar (tbf Stafford and Allen sometimes do it as well). Also, I don’t really follow college football so you maybe right about year-to-year development. Idk anyone before the draft comes around, and still haven’t checked out Ridder or Corral.

@Walking Bucket Corral seemed to underthrow targets a lot but Simms likes him best in this class.

I don’t think Willis has as much experience playing QB, so I’m confident it will improve. I’m a Detroit fan and Stafford went from all bullet passes as a rookie to finding a nice sweet spot these days.

@Cujobob Yeah, development is underrated imo. Everyone wants the finished package right away, instead of building someone up and supporting them. Btw you seemed to be informed on college football; do you know what the deal is w/ liberty’s offense? I want to believe in Willis as a pocket passer, but from what I’ve seen they seem to only pass outside. Also, college football seems an awkward mixture of checkdowns and huge deep shots, w/o the intermediate stuff which makes it hard to evaluate QBs (I consider the intermediate range most important).

@Walking Bucket I don’t know that about avoiding the middle of the field. This is something that I’ve seen mentioned elsewhere, but I haven’t seen an answer as to why there appears to be fewer passes to that area. I have some guesses, but I’d love to know the real reason. He’s not a tall QB, so it’s possible it’s related to that, but it’s more likely because they’re taking advantage of Willis’ feet with an open middle and big arm.

If you watch his tape he throws on the run while being chased very well and he maneuvers around the pocket really well too. I get Herbert vibes when I watch Pickett.

@Ps4 User your right there’s plenty of tape of him extending plays throwing dimes down the field off the run but I like him and Willis and hope my panthers pick one of them

@DatBoiBizzle I hope you guys get Willis and we get Pickett. I think Pickett is the better passer and is the better Qb overall. Willis has more atheletism and a bigger arm so there’s potential for him to be good at the NFL level if he improves in other areas. I just don’t think he will be as good as Pickett.

@Ps4 User I agree I been said I wanted Pickett over Willis I think he can start and be impactful day one Willis can be great to but he’s gonna have to take some time to develop I think worst case Lamar Jackson/slightly worse which I don’t think he’s all that great his ceiling is a right handed mick Vick maybe a lil better but only time will tell

@trizzgreenery Willis has the potential to be better down the road but he isn’t better right now and there is no guarantee he will be better. I think Willis will go first because teams always fall in love with “tools” during this time of year, but Pickett is the better prospect now and still has Joe Burrow like potential.
