I loved how from about 4:30pm eastern untill about 11pm eastern, we all joked that the Steelers could miss the playoffs with a Charger/Raiders tie. I mean tie are so rare it’s basically a non factor. Steelers are basically already in the playoffs………and then for about 50 magical and insane minutes it stopped being a joke and became very very real. Oh God it could actually happen. Wasn’t the meme ending we hoped for but entertaining none the less

Seems pretty clear Raiders WERE going to run the ball and not try to kick. Then Chargers called the timeout, so Raiders changed their minds. Kinda felt bad for Herbert and the rest…. Oh well, sure was exciting!

One of the best games in NFL history. I’m a Chiefs fan and would loved to have seen both the Raiders and Chargers make the playoffs. That’s how good the AFC West is this season. Mr. Staley needs to rethink his all-in, all the time strategy imo. Makes for an entertaining game, though. Herbert is a beast at QB. Carr is damn good too. Congrats to Raider Nation, you’ve endured more than any fan base should have to deal with in a single season. All this talk about the timeout with 38sec left in OT is a nothing burger. I don’t think it changed a damn thing. Jacobs run after that timeout changed EVERYTHING, even though I think they try the FG even if he gets stuff at the LOS. I like both coaches in this game. Very different but I get where they’re coming from. I hope the Raiders understand what they have and don’t go shopping for the next glamour hire. Good luck Raiders. Hope to see you again soon.

So…you’ve only been watching the NFL for about 2 years? It was an entertaining game, but one of the best games in NFL history? Come on now. I’ve only been watching American Football for a few years myself but I’m aware of history. One of the best games this year. Quite frankly, the OT Period was a bit of a snooze but the game was playing live in my time zone at about 5 a.m., so that may have been my issue. I just wanted someone to score a TD and end it.
And I disagree about the timeout. To my mind, the Raiders appeared to be content to run the ball conservatively and end the game in a tie that would have been mutually beneficial to both teams, when they came back on the field after the 2:00 warning. In any case, the timeout made little sense as it was called with FOUR seconds left on the play clock. Take it earlier if you’re trying to win. The runner was down on the previous play at 1:14 at the 39 yard line. A 57 yard Field goal from there if the Raiders are stopped at the LOS on 3rd down. No sure thing. The timeout was silly. It didn’t help the Chargers conserve time needed to try to win if LV missed the FG or punted as they allowed 36 seconds to run off the clock. I think it did give the Raiders pause. AFC West camaraderie was thrown out the window.
@Anderson smith ah haha. Review some of the 70’s games and see when Real Men played the game. 80s brought some good moments as well. This game was far from one of the best. Look at the Seahawks spanking on the Packers in a Championship. Same with Tom Brady serving up some Falcons in another Championship. Come on Freshman Fan. We Have Been There Done That!

The Raiders used to be the winningest TEAM in All of Professional Sports with a win percentage of about 75%. They used to take qualudes (not exactly performance enhancing) before each game and used to “wake up” b the 4th quarter and come from behind and win for about three (3) decades all of which I witnessed growing up (see Raiders vs Dolphins go 6 quarters in playoffs in the late 1970’s). It was like watching the Raiders of old when watching this fantastical game!
Biggest takeaway: Herbert is an absolute beast! Can’t give the guy enough credit

It’s true the Raiders fan base has been through a lot. I thought the Raider Nation was done for after Henry Ruggs III killed the innocent woman by stupidly DUI driving 156 mph and then the firing of Jon Gruden, it all looked like an apocalyptic season for the Raiders once again I was very happy to see them take down the Chargers.
@Michael Jacobs The Raiders and Chargers battled so hard in this game ! I’m a Chargers fan all my life but I give the Raiders credit , their season was hell ! But I also give Herbert a ton of credit. He grew up big time in this game !

This would have been Game of the Decade/Century/ of All Time if it actually ended in a legit, not intentional tie because of the odds, how the game needed to be a tie for both teams to go and how the game actually played out, especially with all the ways the Game wasn’t supposed to be played (going on 4th down, Chargers down big in the 4th, Chargers needed two scores in less than 5 mins, Chargers getting 5/6? 4th down conversions, Chargers get a 0:00 left on the clock TD and it went to overtime with both teams scoring at least once). Just INSANE!!

Game of the year, no doubt. I didn’t particularly like the result, but the game itself was legendary! Herbert deserved that playoff spot – and, after watching Raiders vs Bengals, I’m even more convinced of it. Anyway, one of the best games ever.
we were one possession away from winning against the bengals, if it wasn’t for the whistle that literally stopped our player from playing defense and swatting the ball out of the air it wouldn’t of been a definite win. Herbert may not have won the game, or gotten into the playoffs, but he left the battlefield a legend in this game….. and kudos to the Raiders for fighting hard for this one. They showed up on that last drive.

I have been a loyal, hardcore Chargers fan since 1968, l thought i had seen it all in over 50+ years with my Chargers. This Raiders vs. Chargers game showed me how much i love the game of football, how much each player gave of themselves to find a way to win. Until this game, I despised anything to do with the Raiders. Now, the respect i have for the Raiders will remain with me. I am damn proud of my Chargers like never before. Justin Herbert will have many more accomplishments he will achieve, he is a force to be reckoned with for many years. I am really glad he is a Charger, he will be the leader this team has needed for a very long time. I hope i will see my Chargers win a SB sooner rather than later.

as a Steelers fan, i can honestly say that Herbert , Burrow and Allen are all probably destined for SB titles…its gonna be a long decade for the NFC..
When i was young , throughout the 80s and 90s, the NFC won many many superbowl titles in straight consecutive years from 84-96..

This game was BETTER than the SB. I can hold my head high as we walk away this season. Extremely proud of my Chargers ⚡⚡⚡⚡ they really proved themselves worthy with this one!!

This very well maybe one of the greatest seasons ever. The postseason that continued was nothing short of extraordinary dominance by all teams.
As a chargers fan i can admit one thing. EVERY Primtime game next year BETTER be AFC west. No other division even comes close to having all 4 teams being able to make the playoffs.
Any one of those teams in any other division is going to win it.
