Loyd is the best linebacker in this draft class.

Man jayson oweh and the tall Miami de ended up being steals last year as there were considered risks. And Miami and Kansas City had a good draft last year. Three guys on all rookie team.

Other examples?
1. ’20 defense although poor finished with flurry of turnovers in 2nd half of season. BUT …. media credits this all Quinn. Even while Quinn himself credits McCarthy going back to training camp and….AND McCarthy teams have always been turnover heavy.
2. Although McCarthy cut and traded locker room cancers from ’20 roster setting the table for best off season and culture in decades here…. It all got credited to Dak and Quinn. Draft… Only difference is McCarthy. 20 &21.
My point isn’t that others didn’t help but…. All were either here or elsewhere prior to McCarthy getting here and did not show trend to what he is developing here.
’20 and ’21 were simply Phase I of him reshaping allfacets of how this team does business, just look at the D – 4 just 4 remain from 19 roster. BY DESIGN. coincidentally a design not followed here in last 30 years.
2021 was not the pinnacle is was first actual step forward after 2 steps back.

Dallas will need to draft oline man and dlineman and secondary guys in rounds 1-3 the next couple years

Mid round LBs to get instead of Dean:

Troy Andersen, Montana St.
Mike Rose, Iowa St.
Either of the Wisconsin kids: Chenal/Sanborn

All can play Mike/Sam/Leo/Jack and are big and can run with good instincts.

Kelvin Joseph seems a little off but you want your cb to be a cocky bastard. Hopefully he can reign it in a little bit tho because it seemed like he wanted to fight every play on special teams. Probably frustration from not getting any more playing time.

“Blowing up” the team does seem like a really interesting strategy. What if Dallas can trade Amari to Jacksonville for that 2nd round (and a 5th) pick? What if Dallas trades Zach to Cincy for a 1st & a 4th? What if Dallas trades Tyron Smith somewhere for a 2nd? What if Dallas trades (and offers to pay for most of his salary) Zeke for a 4th?

And then you get Tank to take a cut to 17m and save like 12m on the cap. So now you have ALL the cap room to keep Gregory, Schultz, Kearse, Gallup, Ced & your choice of Kazee or Hooker.

Then you draft Linderbaum & Green, then grab the NT from Connecticut & one of Broadus’ guards in the 2nd, then a WR and whoever else you want in the 3rd and beyond.

You let Collins, Steele & Ball fight for LT. 2nd best gets RT and then you hope the 3rd best will be a nice swing tackle. There will be some growing pains with an entirely new middle OL. But you hope that you’re avoiding the Romo mistake of signing him to a big deal & allowing his OL to get old and bad.

I do realize that they would have to trade up for Green. But hell, 31 & 33 should be a sweet enough package to get him. Then you still have 2 more 2nd round picks, you would have FOUR fourth round picks (Dalton comp pick) that you could surely package together for an extra 3rd round pick.

But yeah, I think I can get behind that strategy.

Let’s see what we can do with CD, MG, Ced, Schultz, TP (and the guy with the E.D. glasses), Collins/Steele, Green, Linderbaum, 2nd round guard, Steele/Collins. It might be a little rough going but that might work out…put you in range for a talented young LT and then hopefully your OL makeover is complete for the middle part of Dak’s career.
