Mick Shots: Up Against The Walls | Dallas Cowboys 2021

How great is this, Mick Shots gets the first interview with Everson Walls after Trevon Diggs tied his Cowboys single-season interception record at 11 Sunday night against Washington. Our podcast teammate couldn't have been any happier for the Cowboys corner, not only raising his name but that of Mel Renfro's, Lester Hayes and Dick "Night Train" Lane.

Emerson walls, The original thief always much love. Only wish that you could’ve got a ring with us. But in my heart you’ll always be a cowboy. My homeboy.🙏🏾⭐️👍🏿🤠👌🏿☝🏼

    Ryan R

@Robert Glasper nope not really, but it is quite funny how you say that. you know, trying to find the fault in someone yourself haha

    Ryan R

@Robert Glasper again you like speaking about yourself a lot huh? Sure wanna project on others.

    Ryan R

@Robert Glasper already do, thanks for your concern

K4Liberty

A Legend, that is unknown !!!

    BlazedLangermann

    that was*

Stanley Senior

It’s Everson not Emerson…..🤷🏿‍♂️

DJDOGG31

I love what Everson said in this episode. Give Thurman, Downs and himself some credit. They were a great secondary and when you look at the total takeaways and sacks from those teams he played on….my goodness!!!!!

    evilSWA - beyond pandora films

What do you mean give them some credit? As if people were like man that defense sucked… The team went to the NFC championship game that year… Again… What are you talking about give them some credit? How much credit do they deserve for having a great year?

    Ryan R

@evilSWA – beyond pandora films he is meaning, how often do you hear them talked with the great defenses and secondaries? Not often.

    God N Cowboys

@Ryan R I was born in 87 and never heard about the Cowboys defense in 81 and 85. You always hear the 85 Bears the 2000 Ravens Legion of Boom. Never heard those Defenses were so good. But looking at the turnover per game log, damn they were awesome

    Ryan R

@God N Cowboys agreed. i was born in 91 and you mainly hear about those defenses, the steel curtain, the purple people eaters, the no name defense, or the 70s dooms day defense

    Robert Glasper

    What was they all Total

The main reason why the 1979 and 1980 Cowboys didn’t represent the NFC in the Super Bowl was their poor play in the secondary. In 1981, Walls and Downs helped to transform the Cowboy’s secondary into a ball hawking unit in BOTH the regular and post-season. People forget that Walls had 2 picks and a fumble recovery in the 1981 NFC Championship “Catch” Game.

    Mark271792

It also didn’t help that they couldn’t get one of those NFC title games at home. They started the first two seasons of the ’80s undefeated at home.

Rick Miller

Ty for all the hard hits and picks “up against the wall” banners were all over the stadium.

Man I love Emerson……he will always be one of my favorite Cowboys

    Everson*

ArmyMomHeatherC.

Mick needs a highchair or some phone books.

    BenTramer

He probably needs some Tylenol, too. I’m sure his jaw is sore, as well as his knees.

JJ

Everson Walls needs to be in the Ring of Honor and Hall of Fame.

Naji

FYI: HIS NAME IS EVERSON(WALLS), #24 undrafted CB out of Grambling College and (frm doing my homework), he was offical for us AND later the giants

Newlen Media

During Garrett’s time, the Defensive coaches didn’t preach/teach takeaways (forced fumbles/interceptions). They told Defensive backs to swat the ball away and to not get beat. The philosophy changed. This team also used to be a linebacker factory. We also had great play at Safety, ala Darren Woodson, who they’ve never replaced. During our dynasty years with the triplets, we started to deteriorate when we lost Jay Novachek. They didn’t get a decent pass catching Tight End until we drafted Jason Witten. Jerry Jones is a business man and marketing guru. He knows about football but he doesn’t understand history, legacy or winning. He has no appreciation for those things and he should.

stacey marshall

I really enjoyed that! I love my Cowboys family! ❤️

Rob Alvarado

I love seeing the Ol G’s talk. Reminds me of my uncle’s when they play dominoes!

David Foster

If y’all remember and practice training camp the coach said when he won the super bowl in Green Bay it took all 78 players people kind of forget this but that’s what he said and just think about what he doing now everybody plays

AlThor

I totally agree with Everson. I want us to go and play the Packers. I don’t care where, I just think that this team has the right mentality and talent to finally beat Rodgers

Spy-d Chavez

Let’s Go !!!

Robert Dudley

24 is Legendary Dallas Cowboy and he was special. He was great, Bill B of NE PATS Coach speaks highly of this man, tells everything I need to know.

Bruce Wallace

Everson was great and very underrated…he was the missing piece for that giants football team that won in the 90’a

J. Mc

The fact that Walls holds the record that long AND was an undrafted guy from an HBCU is almost a miracle.

Spectral Fire

Everson Walls is my favorite person on Dallas Cowboys podcasts. Glad he’s getting so much love this season from the press.
