no CB can perform to their highest potential when they have to cover guys for 5+ seconds every play. give okudah a little pass rush and he will lock down

They’re projecting him to be a safety? my man looks good as a cornerback especially at 6″2
Until he’s gotta go man on Devontae Adams. I don’t see the shiftiness
Crisp NFL route runners will eat off him. He’s got undeniable size and is a great athlete but in a league where most passes are between 5 and 15 yards, he doesn’t have the short area quickness needed to be a quality starting corner. Would have much preferred Marco Wilson who you may even be able to get in the 5th and has the tools to be a number 1 NFL starting corner. I mean nothing about those highlights really show you anything besides his length, that he’s a good tackler, is tough and got decent hands…
I think it’s cause people saying he can’t guard man to man on good receivers I feel like he would be a good safety looks like he has good ball skills

@helmedon Yeah, he did well and Dyami is one of my favourite players in this draft period, so I was disappointed we didn’t take him with that pick… But again, that game doesn’t disprove anything I’ve said and maybe you should actually watch the game film. Dyami is the vertical threat in that offense… Ifeatu got to do exactly what he’s great at… Sit 10 yards deep all game, run down the field with his straight line speed and use his length to contest the ball… And if I remember correctly that was before Cisco did his ACL, so he also had probably the best safety in this draft when it’s all said and done for my money, helping him over the top… He’s not going to have the luxury of just sitting 10 yards deep and defending fly routes in the NFC North… And I’m not trying to kill the kid, and he’s going to have my full dedicated support but I’m just saying he’ll be playing safety in the NFL once the dust settles.
I can see him maybe starting outside as a zone CB(which would lead to Okudah going into the slot) or a safety.

That’s what I was thinking too I think we could see movement maybe Okudah heads to the slot or safety. He looks like a pretty nice zone safety or zone CB. He’s very versatile from what I’m seeing in film.

He’s a ballhocking machine and a perfect fit for an Aaron Glenn led defense and the upside with him is superstar potential. I believe he’s going to be converted into safety either him or Okudah and he can fit the Quandre Diggs role too. He will be perfect in blitz packages whether he’s up in the box or coming off the edge for corner blitz plays. Definitely a versatile asset for the Lions defense. Holmes is nailing his first four picks.
