@JL literally all their picks fell, I’m not even joking, sewell was supposed to go in the top 5. Our dt picks are ranked number 1 nd number 3 in their position, nd our cb was supposed to go in the 2nd round

@JL Kiper is the only one that said that. But when I looked up the player ranks, they are steals. Brad Holmes literally said they tried to move up to get Levi Onwuzurike. But they stood pat and got him anyway because on their draft board he fell. Regardless, if the franchise is excited to get these players that’s the most important thing. You should not draft players just because of where the media ranks them. You draft the players you feel good about having on your team.

@Cornelious T Have to give AG and opportunity to coach up the secondary. He’s a multi Pro Bowler and All Pro corner. He knows that position. Just look at how he coached up the secondary in NO. Made a very young secondary a top 5 secondary in the league in 2 years. The inside of our d-line was HORRENDOUS. Need that pressure in the middle. Remember when we had Suh and Fairly in 2013? We had a historically great defense against the run, giving up less than 70 yards a game. Give him a chance. All the other positions will benefit from interior pressure.

@Cornelious T I look at it this way because I’m glad you bought Mayhew/Schwartz up because we did have a tremendous defensive line that’s why our defense improved so much in 2013 and we were the #2 overall defense in 2014. That was due to the fact that they built the team in the trenches which is the only way to build a defense in the NFL or a good defensive football team period. You build from the inside out not the outside in. People were trying to figure out why guys like Okudah struggled last year and a lot of it had to do with the Dline being trash they gave up two home runs from Dalvin Cook and Aaron Jones last season. There’s no point in drafting LBs and Safeties when you haven’t even taken care of that Dline yet. The Rams built their team the same way around Aaron Donald in the trenches before they got those monsters behind him. Dude, you gotta slow down too we’re not ready to compete this season yet this is a 3-year build we got time to draft linebackers and safeties and all the toys we need for this defense in the next two drafts. Build the foundation first is the main rule here.

@Justin Chilcutt Exactly that’s the crazy part about some Lions fans they really think we ready to compete this season, we’re not this is a 3-year rebuild so the Lions have room to take their time building this defense. The Lions need a lot on defense like you said so it’s gonna take time to fill these holes we’re not going to get it done in one year. They need to stock up on the front and build this thing correctly from the inside out. Lions want to build a defensive culture similar to the Rams where they know the defensive line is strong so the players behind them look way better than they would if they had our sad defensive line that we had under Quinn and Patricia the last few years.

@Main 313 Exactly bro, I really feel like Lions fans like that are delusional they really think we’re ready to compete this year when we’re not. They’re in denial that we’re in a straight rebuild right now not a retool. The Lions want to build the foundation from the trenches and on out first. Like I keep saying look how the Rams are built they built the trenches around Aaron Donald first and once they were done doing that everybody behind that line looked that much better. We got time to take the sexy picks or playmakers in the next two drafts. People gotta remember too the last time we drafted two DTs that was our last golden era in the early 90s.

@Alex Exactly and that’s what Lions fans need to understand that this is a tank year the team is not ready to compete at all yet. We’re building this defense like the early 90s Lions and Aaron Donald led Rams from the inside out. A great defensive line is the foundation to great defenses everybody who plays behind a great line like this will eat better because of it. If guys can’t stop the run or apply pressure then it exposes your linebackers and secondary to big plays being made by the offense. Exactly look how the Browns built their team and the Dolphins too who got better on defense they built in the trenches then saved up enough salary cap space to go get the toys. I always felt like the Lions back in the Mayhew/Schwartz era did it right when they built that lineup around Suh then they took off in 2013 and became the #2 defense in 2014. They didn’t go sexy at first which is mainly how you get draft bust when you build your team like that take care of the trenches first.

I think Flowers might be gone next year especially if he doesn’t perform 11mil cap next year and 23 an 18mil cap plus Hand and NWilliams so good draft we started with 5 ended with seven it could have been better with Fields and Sewell if we take Panthers bait but oh well
