I disagree our offense did some things that year

I disagree even after Peyton retire and Brock went to Houston. With that same defense, Denver miss the playoffs for 5 years. As bad as Peyton was his last year, his leadership, ability to read defense and get the team in the best spot is lacking and if he wasn’t playing in the AFC title game, Hoodie and Brady would’ve won 7 together. If that was the case Baltimore of the 2000, The current Broncos would’ve been winning more than one super bowl. It took Baltimore 12 years to finally win again. It took us 16 years to win again after Elway retire. Why because they finally got quality QB play. New England don’t win 6 without Tom. That early 00 Pats D was top tier despite them not getting credit but they needed Brady to win.

@W J I agree wholeheartedly. But we have depth at CB, and next years’ NFL free agents and draft have plenty of CB’s available. We need a good coverage LB, like Parsons would have been. Plus, we lost WAY more games of stalled drives and picks, so a QB would have been a better choice. We have no decent RT, so that would have been a better choice, I think. I’m not saying we don’t need CB depth, especially after this year, I just think there are other positions that are much harder to find solid players at, that we need and could have gotten with that pick.

@W J Don’t get me wrong, I hope it shakes out. I never want one of our picks to bust. I just think that the value for what we need isn’t there. This pick is not impactful enough to bump is into playoff contention. At best, we are looking at making .500 here. I really hope I can look back on this comment and be wrong, and have Surtain II be the next Champ Bailey, getting 4+ picks a season, and able to cover elite TE’s like Waller and Kelce, eliminating them from the game.

@Tussle Rox oh yeah this all assumes the front office knows something about the QB position that the general fan base doesn’t. If we have bad QB play nothing else really matters. But I agree with you for sure

@Tussle Rox ya I disagree man. You take the pressure off the QB room with this defense and now running game with the addition of Javonte Williams(man I love tht pick so much lol). And with having 3 teams in the top 7 in passing in the league in ur own division CB depth is actually an immediate need imo. This pass rush and secondary are gunnaa absolutely shut teams down and give QBs nightmares and cold sweats at night lol. Plus Denver was worried about Fields’ epilepsy and his epilepsy medication in high altitude which makes a lot of sense. We take the pressure off the QBs get great field possession and control the clock we have no need to have to push the ball down field. Plus there were some real concerns about Micah Parsons character, he started a riot in school… Thts just no bueno.

@W J I am still holding our for Rodgers. Looking at his contract, if they wait until June 1st, Green Bay would save something like $16 million in cap, if my calculations were correct. Further, Surtain was the top CB on their board, and CB is/was their biggest position of need. I’m a little worried that to make that deal happen we would have to get rid of Jerry or one of our other decent WR’s plus Surtain and a king’s ransom of other compensation to get him, but I still think it would be worth it. Tim Patrick, Courtland, and KJ with Fant and TE, and Rodgers at the helm, would make for one SERIOUSLY potent offense. But, hey, who knows. I’m optimistic about the future of the team overall, even if it doesn’t happen this year.
