You know, I was undecided whether yes or not. But, Carl coming back and wanting to. YEAH, HE’S A RAIDER. I am glad he’s back. Man showed a lot of character. And him an Abrams, man that is serious lumber.

I think that his experience with another organization, city, defensive coaches/scheme/players and the whole situation gives him a different perspective, mindset and drive that will make him appreciate the opportunity and challenge that will serve him well and make him that much of a better player, teammate and Raider. He did have his best season for us his last year here and he made some big, important, clutch plays in critical situations, late in games that clinched the victory for us vs the Chargers and the Lyons, as well as making a bunch of good plays besides that. In fact, our defense went way downhill after he was injured in 2019.
Most people wonder why we had the late season collapses after a 6-4 and 6-3 start in back to back years, but I can tell you exactly why… INJURIES. Midway through 2019 we lost Jacobs, Cle, Moreau, T. Brown, Jackson, Joseph and Burfect to suspension and Terrell Williams foot injury made him slow and for whatever reason gave him the drops… and we all know what happened last season in 2020, injuries to our O Line, rookie receivers and corners, Kwiatkoski, MaddMaxx and Covid making it so that entire position groups couldn’t practice… all of this adds up to 7-9 & 8-8, making the biggest issue the lack of depth.
Thankfully, we’re much deeper than we were over the last few seasons. But even with a bad defensive coordinator, imagine for a moment that we actually had all of those guys stay healthy for the entire season and playoffs… YEAH, THERE WOULD HAVE BEEN A COMPLETELY DIFFERENT OUTCOME TO BOTH OF THOSE SEASONS!!!
But look at what that shows us… with no running game for the majority of the season, missing a game and having his 2 starting WRs, RB1 at 50% and a patchwork O Line Derek Carr still threw for over 4,000 yards and was the reason why we won 8 Games and if our defense would have stepped up it would have been 11 Games and possibly more!!!
So with all of this taken into consideration, a competent Defensive Coordinator & coaches, a much better Defensive line, our young secondary putting in the work, learning a DB friendly system and having way better coaches, making sure that we have the right guys for the job, a less expensive, younger, stronger, healthier, more athletic, powerful and consistent O Line, our young receivers developing chemistry with Carr and getting bigger, tougher, stronger and completely healthy with 2 proven Vets behind them that are just as good as Nelly, but with better hands, pushing them to get better and backing them up, an explosive 3rd down RB that can also take the load off of Jacobs and play the Joker role that Bowden was supposed to play, but was too immature, a bad influence and not nearly as explosive as Drake, Moreau completely healthy and hungry to perform at the highest level after learning from Witten who Gruden stupidly played way too much because Foster would have been a great weapon and far better and faster than Witten, but that’s another story(that I think and hope that Gruden learned his lesson on) and were still not done!!! We still have the Draft in a couple of weeks and I am certain that Gruden and Mayock learned their lesson from last year and are for the most part in a position to take best player available for the first time in recent Raiders history!!!
So besides addressing RT & FS, they can Draft the best players available and get a dominant DT, RG or C, big possession WR, big short yardage RB, shutdown CB, fast playmaker LB and we have the most talented, athletic, deepest and complete team that we have ever had!!! Or at least going back about 20 years… so consider all of this and be happy and excited about the future of our beloved Raiders!!!!!!!
We’re a draft away from being Superbowl Contenders for the next decade and a half!!!!!!!!!!!!
