The amount of maturation that Travis Kelce has undergone in just the last few years can not be overstated. He’s gone from a hot head, “me” guy on the field and a “playa” off the field to a true team leader and team player on the field and a freaking Walter Payton Award nominee for his off the field work. I”m proud him for that, and I think his success on the field reflects all of that. It will be an awesome moment when the Chiefs have their second consecutive tight end inducted into the HoF on the first ballot.
Agree. He systematically eliminated every weakness in his game, year by year. First couple years, he didn’t make a catch unless he got the free release at the line. Now, chipping/blocking and THEN going out is part of his game. And his blocking has improved, enormously.
I’m more old-school about TE. I want a great blocker who can also catch, not a receiver who half-asses the blocking part. The league DGAF about what I think, but for all-around, I put Kelce above Tony Gonzalez.
