At least give Hurts a chance to actually play and see what you have instead of cycling him in like he is just a token player. Because clearly Wentz is cooked.
@James Calder there’s a reason why hurts is being put in like that .. it’s because he’s a gadget player like Taysum hill… he dose not have the arm or the ability to go through progressions.. and if you watch the game last night you’d see that the play calling and o Line wouldn’t change who’s at QB
@YurMayker I mean thats just not true… he isn’t like Hill at all – Hill was a project, who wasn’t great at BYU and used his raw athleticism to bail him out 90% of the time…. not to mention was completely undrafted. Hurts played in Bama’s offense and played spread at Oklahoma… he is more than capable of being a QB and also would have won the Heisman if it hadn’t had been for Joe Burrows absolutely record shattering College season at LSU.
The guy has things to work on but he isn’t a “Gadget player” thats just a false narrative – you don’t draft a guy in the second round of the draft to make 1 play a game… not to mention dropping him in for 1 play (and its a play that a QB could make) is stupid, it shows you nothing especially when he only comes in on mostly doomed plays.
Maybe it wouldn’t effect the situation but Wentz looks awful – yes he is the most sacked QB, but he looks dreadful – he forces passes, he doesn’t throw the ball away, he leads the NFL in fumbles in his career, he leads the NFL in nearly every bad category this year (and last year outside of the run into playoffs he was awful). Everybody goes “Oh Wentz threw for 33TD’s and was on his way to a massive season before his injury” – that was 3 years ago… and that was when the eagles team was arguably the best in the league… Nick Foles came in and looked like a god.
At what point do you put in Hurts to see what you have? Because otherwise you are just doing nothing and going “Well he is a gadget guy only” – when the reality is he wasn’t that at college and you didn’t draft him in the second round for that.

Doug pederson: Right we need to find out what we have with this new guy so I have a plan…
First we give him a 3rd and 35 and design a qb run then we bring him in for one pass and make it a outside short pass on 2nd and 14 so he has no chance of getting a first down. This way we can still play Wentz and look like geniuses doing it.
