Dude he didn’t cost us the Super Bowl, the fact that we didn’t just keep smashing the Chiefs in the run and burn more clock did. We had them on the ropes for 3 quarters

I bet this amount that they arrived at is the kind of money that was being discussed between other teams and Don Yee during trade talks. And I think that amount is mostly due to the fact that all the starting seats are taken right now and Jimmy is coming off of surgery. As was discussed in this video, Jimmy would probably rather stay put if he’s going to be on the bench regardless and get paid the same as what other teams were offering.
The same way it lit a fire under jimmy when they were bringing trey in , i hope vice versa you got the team now trey step tf up & show why you here.
Any old timer 49er fan has seen this scenario before. Before all you talking heads on this show were born there was a quarterback for the 49ers that was picked as the replacement for their aging qb. He spent his entire 19 year NFL career being “replaced” by the 49ers only to end up being their starter for three straight playoff appearances before retiring as their greatest qb at the time.
Us old time 49er fans are the only ones who really know what is happening here. Ya’ll need to just close the pie hole and listen.
Personally think this is an awesome deal for us 49ers. If Lance gets hurt, we have a backup qb that can help us get to the super bowl and on top of that we could trade him if need be and if jimmy wants to go to the team
It isn’t enough anymore just to get into the Super Bowl. They need to win it! Tw missed opportunities less then 10 years isn’t going to cut it anymore.
@P J Do you not know that there is also 32 other teams also competing for the title? Ofc you wanna get to the super bowl to win, but just making it as far as they have been is better than anyone could’ve thought and better than most of the organizations.

Jimmy has a better completion % and WAY less interceptions than Favre (most all time), and Lap’s stats were pretty damn good too. You guys were joking but we’d be a damn good team with Jimmy, or Kap, or if Trey can step up
I just don’t see the good in this. The 49ers future has been put in the hands of a (for all intents and purposes) rookie QB. History tells us that he needs confidence and leeway to succeed. Having a veteran QB who we know is better at the current moment on the roster is only going to make that rookie look over his shoulder and be worried about every mistake. No amount of bs that coaches throw at him will prevent it because we all know the reality. Now that Garoppolo is sitting on the bench waiting we all know that the moment Lance makes a big mistake which is guaranteed to happen because no one is perfect the crowd will be screaming for Jimmy G to play. Eventually the team gets tired of losing if it happens and a switch is made. Now you have a Tua situation and we saw how that worked out (still time to fix it but time is wearing thin). If Sudfeld was the backup then Lance would be free to let it fly and not worry about mistakes which is what he needs to do to improve and the crowd won’t be chanting for Sudfeld to come in the game. I get the practicality of the move but I completely agree that the potential for ruining your young QB has just at least tripled. Hopefully Trey plays well vs Chicago, gets that confidence going, and this is all a moot point.
I’m not sure the dead cap savings doesn’t make cutting Jimmy G an option now if they still don’t get trade offers. I don’t think this move has to mean that one or both sides aren’t still looking to cut ties.
49ers fans wanted to bench Jimmy half way through the season. Kyle will stick Trey and things will work out.
To those of you that don’t like this idea, just think back to 2018 & 20 when Jimmy got hurt. Those turned out to be wasted seasons.
Or 2017 which was a garbage year until Jimmy came in.
Trey Lance will lose a couple of games and next thing you know Jimmy is starting again. Mark my words. This is a good move for Jimmy. What would be even funnier is if 49ers go deep! Like NFC championship/Superbowl deep with Jimmy!
Jimmy has shown he is a really good guy and teammate, he is showing he’s pretty humble as well but let’s not get it twisted. His agent is Tom Brady’s agent. This was and is the best situation for Jimmy securing a 7 million dollar bag while waiting out other teams to see who might trade for a starter mid season while potentially earning yet another SB ring as a backup. This was not his first choice at the start of the off-season but given his shoulder surgery this is his best option today and a win for the niners as well
This is great!!! I think this happened because they want something for Garoppolo in a trade but more important is that I am betting Trey Lance is not making the progress they envisioned. And so he is really not working out to be the player they want

They restructured his contract because they know and knew earlier that nobody was going to pick up #10. In a way I also believe that #10 also knew he wasn’t going to get picked up.Nothing bad about him personally but he was not a good QB. He was, at best, an ok QB at times. If you disagree, that is ok and I 100% respect that, but just look at his actions in our last game last season. Jimmy, the “experienced vet” was acting like a rookie. He got so nervous, he got so flustered. He became impatient and made some critical mistakes that an actual experienced QB would not make. He was PART of the team that got us to the SB but he was not the reason we went there.
The guy in the blue shirt saying we over-value him, IMO is spot on. Good locker room presence, when he is there. I didn’t know but apparently he just vanishes and nobody can reach him outside that room. Can we take a moment to think though that Jimmy taking the cut is not only because he is a nice guy but also partly because even he knows he was not getting picked up? I mean can you think of one team that was sincerely interested? Lynch even came out and said that there was not a single Jimmy discussion that got serious when referencing trading him.
Part of this entire money wasting fiasco can be traced back to Lynch and Shanahan. Both, more so Kyle, made the decision to forego getting T. Brady and sticking with Jimmy. They said to the effect that on film, they did not see any difference between Jimmy and Tom. I mean come on, we almost had a San Mateo native in T. Brady but we stuck with this former backup. I like that Brady wanted to play here, because he is from here. One could argue that on film though, they may have similar play style but Brady brings so much more than just him being a QB. Jimmy does not bring that, he actually brings uncertainty in big, must win games.
Again, I am sure he is a nice guy but we all saw this coming. I believe we saw this coming because getting him instead of Brady, honestly was a mistake. Those happen but what drives me nuts is how our organization continually refuses to address that, even in a nice way. We could have had Brady, but we went with uncertainty. Now we have inexperienced and uncertainty as our QBs. I hope I am wrong on my belief that Lance is not ready, I really am. I do not see a lot of high hopes for our QB spot currently. This is even more frustrating when we have enough talent to be considered a win now team.
Lance hasn’t even showed a glimmer. I’ll give him a chance but I am glad we still have Jimmy G.
“They can win with Jimmy” – agree 100%. It’s the “can win because of Jimmy” that some fans have an issue with. He’s just not the right piece of the puzzle. Last season Niners reminded me so much of the early 90s Bucs. The inconsistency of Trent Dilfer alone cost them 2 or 3 SBs. It’s still amazing to realize the HUGE improvement was called Brad Johnson!!! Don’t even start mentioning Chucky – The rest of the team and game plan were the same. I don’t hate Jimmy G, but he’d have been a better fix somewhere else a few years ago. Like Dilfer, ironically.
For those complaining about this, remember one thing, Jimmy is sitting on the bench making almost 7 million dollars and you’re sitting at home behind a computer screen like the rest of us. If I could sit on the bench and make 7 million dollars damn right I would. Plus Jimmy can go somewhere else later on whether it be mid season or next off season and make even more money.
I’m not a 49’s fan but I think they should keep Jimmy G, I think he is worth it!!!
