I hope so, but until there’s a vaccine or at least an effective treatment for those who get sick, I can’t see how.

    @Nightmare Kilo An infected person can sneeze in a room, and you can enter that room five minutes later, and guess what–you’re infected. The virus lingers in the air for a considerable amount of time. It also lingers on hard surfaces for up to three days.

    An infected person at a game (who may not be showing any symptoms) could infect dozens of people. Also, what about the players themselves. Football is a contact sport–it would be almost certain that every locker room would become sick. (Also, COVID is a lung disease. Meaning that even if you don’t die, your lungs can be fucked up for life. Is that a risk a pro athlete would be willing to take?)

    @Nightmare Kilo No one knows for sure what the virus will do, but the closest analogy is the Spanish Flu Pandemic of 1918. It appeared in the spring and caused a substantial outbreak, went away in the summer, and came back with a vengeance in the fall, when it inflicted its greatest damage.

Obviously we have to see how things progress but the first thing that would make sense is to cancel or shorten preseason to just one week, which will take away 3 weeks of preseason along with the HOF game which gives the NFL an extra month to decide to cancel the entire season. But for now let’s just hope we make it through these times.
