Cowboys | Jerry Jones regrets the way he fired Tom Landry
Despite winning Super Bowls in 1992 and 1993 under his handpicked head coach, Jimmy Johnson, Dallas Cowboys owner/general manager Jerry Jones said he regrets immediately firing legendary Cowboys head coach Tom Landry after Jones purchased the team 25 years ago. Then-Cowboys owner H.R. Bum Bright offered to fire Landry before Jones took over, but Jones insisted he would be the one and wanted to look Landry in the eyes.
“If I had a chance to do it over again I would’ve waited a year and just got my feet on the ground a little bit more and probably just gone with the staff that we had and then later made the ultimate change that I made,” Jones said.
